I am new to this site and it has been a godsend. Fibro has been one ordeal after another lately with the latest being the forthcoming planting season. Along with all of the seed catalogs that I get in the mail is my overwhelming feelings of despair that I am not able to plant and garden like I used to just last year. Like most of you, the smallest tasks absolutely drain me and what were once joys, are now chores. I tell myself that I am not going to let fibro get the best of me, so I hope to be out in the garden in spite of myself, attempting to reap joy in small doses. Thanks for letting me vent and god bless you all

Jill

Hi Jill,

Sometimes we just have to take one day at a time!

If you're not already doing so, I would HIGHLY recommend getting involved in some type of exercising....I know it's difficult, but it's soooo important for us with Fibro!

WATER EXERCISES are best for Fibro. Check out your local Y or health club.

WALKING will also help. It's very hard at first, but then gets easier and your pain starts to lessen.

As far as gardening, just start out with a "little" each day....making sure to not overdue it. When done, soak in a very warm bath.

Take Care

Welcome Jill! I was just thinking the other day how long it is going to take me to plant the flowers I want for my backyard. We just moved in last month so this is a new yard to have fun with. I love flowers in my yard, and I plant the ones that attract butterflies and birds, esp hummingbirds. I jokingly told my husband that by the time I get started, it may be Sept again before I am done I am so slow. But he said he would help me get everything in before summer! YEA!!

New yards are so exciting its been 30 years since I got to start one. My husband planted roses and all perennials around the yard so I just go in and place planters and small yard objects so that i get my color and the grandkids have fun finding little animals and nomes that are hidden behind shrubs and stuff but like you this year are redoing a section. So excited but maybe will do the selecting, butterfly bushes I think and let Terry dig since I fell of the shovel last year and still am having trouble with my foot. Remember it doesn't matter how low it takes as long as we accomplish at least one thing a day. Jean have slow fun you can savor it longer that way.

We too are also in the process of moving into my parents home and my father just cleared out 42 years of junk cleared out so I would have a blank canvas and my son a safe place to play. I have a plan in my head I just hope with some help my body can execute it. There are some days like I feel like an armless artist with a blank church ceiling staring me in the face. I love butterfly bushes too. Thank you all for your loving and kind words, I will continue to keep you posted
