No, Lyrica doesn't work for everyone. That is sad. Fibro causes so much suffering and chips away at the quality of our lives. Except for some short remissions, and 10 years since diagnosis, I am relatively pain free from Fibromyalgia and Migraine Headaches--probably Vestibular migraines, since starting Lyrica April 9.

I am a high school teacher, Art & Family and Consumer Science. Unemployed right now due to a long battle figuring out what was wrong with me. I have been on Lyrica almost a month now and since the four day adjusting to it experience and a couple days feeling spacey on a dosage increase, my pain is very low possibly a 1 on the pain scale if that. After overdoing it last week and paying for it over the weekend, my pain levels are down to virtually zero.

My weight is stable. I needed to gain some weight but don't think the Lyrica is fattening me up. As long as I don't go over a size 14--I am a loose 12 now, after being down to a 6 when severely ill. Once I am recovered enough I want to start my nordic walking again. When I was in great physical shape from the walking routine, my fibro pain was very low but I still had migraines.

Lyrica has been in many ways a godsend for me--I thought I would be unable to ever work again. The stress of being ill and so many incompetent doctors actually put me in the hospital when I was told it was all anxiety. Ummmm of course I had anxiety, my neuro said anyone with chronic pain has anxiety from the stress of living with it everyday.

I developed a particularly bad allergy to Cymbalta and 2 SSRI's. Cymbalta worked for me, but I can no longer take it. There are so few treatments for us and so much misunderstanding about our disease it makes it hard to get the care and pain relief we need. I am just thankful one medication works and now have two chronic pain conditions treated.

Along with the Lyrica, I take the Tricyclic anti-depressant-Desipramine for Recurrent, possibly treatment resistant Major depression, Xanax PRN for panic attacks, and Concerta for ADHD.

Life is getting better, very slowly. Started my job search again and trying to finish a certification class that was put on hold.

HUGS to all,

Becky

My physical goal is to hike and rappell again.

Today my doctor uped my dosage of celexa to 40 mg and added tramadol to the mix and then I got something for the IBS.. hopefully it will help. I do worry about the seizure affects though so we will see.

I have been told about Lyrica, and when asked my doctor about it he told me that we can't get it here, it costs too much money. My husband is active duty Air force and we are stationed in Turkey. I thought that is just great finally something that could work and I can't have it.

The Generic name is pregabalin. There is another similar drug called neurotonin--it is older and supposedly has more side effects, but we all know it is different for everyone.

My belly is a bit puffy, but compared to all the pain and inability to function--that is small potatoes.

I do hope you can get the military docs to prescribe Lyrica for you. Guess you have to get assertive and proactive, hard to do when you are in pain.

I didn't think I would be lucky enough to have a med work---so many med problems, allergies, and sensitivities. When I find something that works, it is a relief and a gift. My depression is controlled better on an older drug and my fibro and migraines by a newly approved use for Lyrica.

Wonder when the patent for Lyrica will end?

My physical goal is to hike and rappell again.

I am on neurotonin, but the problem with that is it is only available in such a small dose that I have to tke it three times a day. I try to keep myself busy with friends during the day, that I am not home much, so I don't remember to take it. I have been on it for about a month and so far it is not working. I just want some relief !!!!!!!

Good question--I never had a puffy belly before. Now I have a nice little muffin top. Small price though to feel good. I also noticed that my breasts are larger too--not complaining about that though. ROFL

Hope to be walking again soon--want to see if stretching and walking will take the puff out of my belly.

My physical goal is to hike and rappell again.
