Welcome to our group Stanberry! I too take Lyrica, but am only on 50 in the am & pm right now. I am sensitive to meds, so am not sure what's going to happen. I see the pain dr tomorrow so we'll see. I have gained weight on it already...7 pounds to be exact. Doesn't make me too happy cuz I worked really hard at losing 30 lbs last year & I don't want to go back to where I was.

I wish you the best of luck in finding what works best for you. Sorry about any typos...am feeling tired & dizzy but wanted to welcome you before I go to bed.

Thanks guys! I am a teacher so at the computer all day if you need to vent! I check my PC on my breaks and at lunch. Godd luck to all of you and keep on going! We can beat whatever we have. I think it is great to be able to go somewhere and talk about it, as only one teacher friend has it...thanks again for the warm welcome.

Hi guys- well the Lyrica is still doing it's work- only side effect so far is water retention. Has anyone ever taken a Lasix along with the Lyrica to head-off the water weight? Haven't read anything that warns NOT to, unless I misread.

I am taking 225mg of lyrica, divided into 3 doses daily. It is really working well. I do wish they would tell patients that it takes many days for the body to adjust to an anticonvulsant. It took me 4 days-I was ready to stop it, but a nurse friend told me to try and stick it out a bit longer. Glad I did.

This weekend I learned it is possible to override the lyrica when you overdo physical activities after a long time of inactivity. I thought I as taking it slow, but realize I did way too much last week in many ways.

The pain is resolving a bit, I decided to rest this weekend and make sure I get plenty of sleep. If the pain does not lessen, I will call my neurologist about increasing the dose. I have not had a migraine since the first 7 days taking lyrica.

Take care all, when the pain leaves and then returns, it is amazing to realize how high the pain levels really are--and how we don't realize it at times. This experience opened my eyes so much.

HUGS to all,

Fluttering by...

My physical goal is to hike and rappell again.

Hi Stanberry and welcome! I am new here as well--a couple of weeks I think. I just started Lyrica on Friday too. I started slow with 50mg at night today is my first day to take it twice so I will be up to 100mg for about 3 days or so, then up it again. So far I don't notice any side effects or difference in pain, but I am taking such a small dose. I hope to see a difference in the way I feel when I up the dosage. I just hope it will be a positive feeling! I already have problems with my weight, so I hope that weight gain doesn't happen for me. But I really don't see how to avoid it--it sounds like more often than not that is a side effect. Guess I will just have to wait and see if I feel great and can just deal with the weight gain. Have a great day--oh I almost forgot I am a teacher as well. We are almost out for the summer, when do you break for summer?

I am in St. Louis and due to snow days we get out 1/2 day on June 2. It's getting pretty crazy here- where are you? I have been on and iff my Lyrica...still messing with it. My dr. told me i can take 1 in the am and if things seem ok and i am feeling ok- not to take another so even 1 a day would be ok. It doesn't seem as if you cannot nmiss a dose, like some other meds...keep me posted! Deana (Stanberry) I changed my name here..

I am in Nebraska, it just snowed here on Friday. Some parts of NE had to let school out early it was a blizzard in May!! Crazy! I teach 7-12 Special Education, what do you teach? It is a crazy time of year to work in schools, track meets, golf meets, ect. I am just trying to get my students to pass their classes lol!! I am a little nervous about taking more Lyrica I don't want to gain weight, but there are also a lot of other side effects that sound awful. I posted on Lyrica a week or so ago and got numerous responses maybe you could check those out if you get a minute. It is my Planning period so I suppose I had better get to work on something--have a great day!

Hi,

I've been on Lyrica about a year and a half. It's the only thing that really helps my nerve pain from tarsal tunnel and RSD. I would not be able to walk without it. The pain relief is GREAT.

It's important that you give the Lyrica awhile to get into your system and work. For me it took about a month to get over the initial dizziness and nausea it caused. It was really bad, but I hung in there because the Dr. said it would go away. I still get a little nauseous with it if I don't take a nap or go to sleep when I take it, but it's tolerable.

The side effects I've experienced are weight gain, extreme sleepiness, speech problems, memory problems, dry mouth. I guess each person has to determine if the positive outweighs the negative. For me it does.
