Hello there- I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a little over a year ago after a hard fall at work. Around the same time I was diagnosed as bipolar as well. I was taking different meds for both conditions for about a year when my husband and i decided to try to have a baby. So I decided to stop all the medications. It has been six months and I have to say that i am so frustrated and depressed. I take pain meds here and there when motrin does not help. Unfortunately I havent gotten pregnant yet and because we had tried for 2 years prior to my diagnosis I have to see a fertility doc. My stress levels are over the top and I am looking for some one- anyone who can understand.

Hello Etch05,

Four years ago, my husband and I decided to have infertility treatments after not getting pregnant for 9 years. I had to come off all meds in order to do so. I came off pain meds and anti-depressants. I did take tylenol at times when I really needed it.

We tried the treatments for about a year I guess with no luck. We did everything up to IVF and stopped. We didn't think my body could withstand the IVF.

I completely understand the tremendous amount of stress it puts you under to be involved in these treatments. It is very frustrating and very very stressful. The side effects to the drugs, the timing issues, the getting your hopes up, then the depression every month when it doesn't work. I was 39 at the time, so we knew it would probably be our only try at treatments, and we were sad when none worked out. But now we've come to terms with it and figure if it's meant to be it will be and if not, not. With my many pain issues, we figure that it has probably worked out for the best, even if not the way we would have hoped.

I'm not so good at encouraging others in the areas where I struggle myself. You didn't say how old you are, but if you are young (as far as women's fertility goes), know that you have plenty of time and it could happen on its own and maybe reconsider the treatments since they are so stressful. If not, it still could happen on it's own, you know. In either case, be strong and know that others have experienced what you are going through (just look at the waiting room at your next appointment!). I hope you are not in too much pain, since you can't take your pain meds. If you can, take a relaxing bath or do something nice for yourself to de-stress a bit, ok?

Take care.

thank you for the encouragement. It is nice to hear from others. I am 32 my husband is 39 so hopefully we will see what happens soon. i have not had to take anything not even tylenol. I have even been able to stop my sleep meds. But I am on vacation and the warmer weather makes me feel better but I am hopeful I will not have to return to the sleep meds when I get back. Be well, Erin

etch, welcome to the group, I still consider myself new, but for some reason I feel like I have known the women here for a long time. I feel we have more in common then just Fibro. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. In fact I am going to start a journel just for these kinds of situations. I am more likely to spend more time praying if its for my fellow fibro mites. Kaze
