Hi, I am 44 yrs old I have struggled since 99 with pain when I tore my meniscus and had surgery. In 2000 I noticed the "tension head aches" 2003 bi-lateral knee surgery by 2005 I was taking Klonopin, Valium and Norco oh yeah and Trazadone and had been on Paxil since 2000.On 2/28 at 4pm I was diagnosed by my advanced pain specialist that I had FMS and then 15 hrs later I was diagnosed by a MD at a spine clinic with FMS. Today I went to a 2 1/2 hr. class for FMS sponosred by the Rheumatology clinic. I ache I hurt I cry I am surprised I am on the computer this late...I even took a jog with my Diva dog (cocker spaniel, named Angel-I'll have to post pix) I am glad to know there are others and that I am not alone...I was devastated. I have been crying pretty much everyday since. I dont know how I get thru work. Actually On 2/11 I was given a 30 day notice to improve or be terminated. I know its from the FMS and the meds but what can I do? As an Admin assistant- how can I ever do that work again? it takes too much brain power that I no longer have! Anyway thanks for letting me vent my first time here. I look forward to being on here more.
Peace & Blessings

Welcome to the FMily smooch! I am glad that you found us. FM can be such a frustrating thing cuz it effects our whole life. It can be relieving to get the dx but upsetting to know that currently there is no cure.

You have come to the right spot for support. Everyone here is so caring and will be here for you no matter what you are going thru. As you figure out how the FM will effect you, lean on our shoulders. Ask the questions, vent, whatever you need...we are here. With loving hugs...

Hi Smooch and WELCOME!!

I'm soo glad you found us! And, please...vent ANYTIME! That's a HUGE part of the group. We all vent and there's always someone here to listen!!

As far as your job...I wish I could say it'll get better or you'll be fine at your job....but you already know that I can't say that!

I had to quit working last Spring/Summer. I just couldn't do it any more! Physically or mentally...I just wasn't there! It's just a part of this nasty thing called Fibro and we just have to learn and accept the things that we have to change and live with...or without.

Lean on us...we're here for you!

Welcome smooch glad you found us, feel free to talk about what ever you need to. I know how frustrating it can be to give up work, I had to quit working back in November, and had to give up my career as a nurse last

year. Fibro can be such a frustrating disease, it takes so much from us. Good thing we have friends like those here, this an amazing group. You're going to love it here.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Dear Smooch,

I'm new to this group also but not new to this beast FMS! There are days I wonder how I get through work as well. I am 48 and work in Administration as well and need to use my brain - if you want to call it that. Sometimes I feel so stupid and I'm not a stupid woman and I know I'm not but this fibro fog is so bad sometimes that I want to scream. I cry a lot also, sometimes from the pain and sometimes from the frustration. I'm sorry you are going thru such a rough time right now...hang in there kid-do. All I can say is enjoy the good days when you have them and make the most of them...I have a dog named Angel too...she is a malti-poo and she is a dickins...I'm so grateful to have her, she makes me laugh and laughter really is the best medicine, sounds like a cliche but it is a fact, at least for me. I'm so glad to have found this on-line group, there really are very nice people on this site. Take care of yourself!

Hugs, Laura

Hey Smooch; Welcome to our little place in this world. Glad to have you and welcome aboard. And yes FMS will turn your whole world upside down. I can tell you from experience. Being a man it really hurts me to not be the man I once was. I'm only glad my children have grow.

But it would be nice to have the life I once had. Well enough of my venting.

Anyway my advice to you, is to take it easy. Do not plan to do more than you can handle,[and not like your former self]. Have no great expectations, and you won't have great disappointments. It's a long road trying to find what works and what doesn't. [Meds]. You'll have good days and bad days. Take advantage of the good ones.

And well thats enough preaching; like I said Welcome.
