Hi,

I am new to this site. Yes I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for almost 10 years (they were calling it Palindromic Rheumatism with possible Lupus for a few years). The best meds for me were Ultracet and Flexeril (i finally had to stop Flexeril from breaking out in rash from medication reaction), and Klonopin and Nortryptiline to sleep at night. Yes I hurt a lot some days. I am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, or another favorite saying is i'm much too young to feel this damn old... I am interested in whats new and what is working the best for people out there. I just switched doctors so am ready to go in and ask for a change. Any advice welcomed. Thanks, Joan

Thankks for the welcomes. I've been busy working my 12 hour shifs and am sick again with a bad cold. I now have a 4 day weekend off yay!, but of coarse a major snowstorm has to hit again... I am so sick of winter. I hope everyone is doing good and feeling well.

After reading about everyone I feel like a wimp. Even though I am busy I am not as busy as some of you. I salute all of you who are so young and have children and are working.

jgamble409 - I don't think you should feel like a wimp. I felt like that when I was first diagnosed too. I only knew about three other people with this Fibro. Monster and they were all still working. I was embarrassed and thought everyone just thought I was lazy. I wasn't, but how do you explain something like this to people. I had to quite my career of teaching and began spending most of my days in bed. I used to be able to juggle all kinds of things - not anymore!! I have two children and was barely able to function enough to take care of them, and depended on my husband a lot. I have had some better days lately and can do a little more now, but still struggle sooooo much!!! This thing affects us all differently. Some are still able to work, some are not. I also am so happy for those who can still work! It gives me hope that maybe someday I will be able to go back to work. But, if not, that's ok too. Maybe I'm to start a new path in my life. But, I don't think it makes us wimps

Lots of BIG HUGS to all of you!! You all inspire me!!

Today in church I was holding my grandson who weighs 18 lbs. After about 10min my arms started to burn and I had to give him to my husband. My husband told me I was out of shape from not exercising and that is why I couldn't hold him very long. I think it was the fibro. What do you think? Also, since I am new to the fibro dx, I was expecting a burning like fire burning type feeling. Is it like that or is a burning like you have used the muscled too much (like you worked out at the gym and did too much)?

Sandi,

I tend to believe it was the fibro. kicking in while holding your grandson. Before this crazy fibro., I had no problem carrying around things or holding things for a long time. And, I know I didn't have an exercise routine at that time. I was always active, but I didn't do any kind of strength training. Lack of exercise did not keep me from holding my children when they were little. However, after fibro. hit, it immediately kept me from doing these things. It wasn't even like I just gradually got out of shape and couldn't do them anymore - it was immediate for me. My arms will burn and tingle. Then if I keep pushing, they will feel like they are going limp. Just no strength left. I can't hold onto things at this point. I have broken many dishes due to this problem . I do try to exercise some each day now, just because I'm not as active as I used to be. But I have to be careful not to over do it.

Don't know if this applies to you, but maybe it will help a little.
