I am understanding how you are feeling. I was diagnosed with Fibro in 2005 after years of pain that had nothing in results of various lab or blood tests to verify its existance. Finally after a visit to a Rheumotologist I had a verification of a name to go along with the pain, but no answers on how to resolve it. I have gone to differnt doctor to get some type of relief with very little succuss in recieving it. I think the first thing I can try to offer as a suggestion when you approach your doctor is to state all of your pain symptoms but not begin by stating that you have Fibromyalgia. I am begining to believe that we may get a pre determined type of care if we do. I Have been told that yoga and anti depressents would provide me with relief and am still waiting for that to actually happen. I am in search of a new provider to try this theory. I live in a small town and need to travel atleast 40 miles to get a better variety of doctors but feel I may need to do so as I will not recieve anything but a closed minded approach from my doctor if I stay where I am. I think we just have to continue to talk to be heard and if we are not heard we go foward until we are. It is fusturating but maybe someday our voices combined will not be ignored. God Bless and good luck!!!!

I've seen 27 dr's from every field since i was diagnosed in 1/2006 and i've ended up back where i started from. my family dr was not familar with fibro and didn't want to diagnose it himself so he sent me to a reumy to have it confirmed. after that i wanted to find the best dr around to help me with this disease. i went to the cleveland clinic and spent a week with various dr's and have every test they could think of performed. they to ended up agreeing with dr's i had already seen and stated that there wasn't much they could do about it. i've seen every kind of dr trying to get someone to say that they could help me, none could. so i ended up back where i started from with my family md. he needed to be educated about fibro and i realized that i was the one that was going to have to do it. so i read everything i could read to educate myself so that i could educate him. after about 6 months he started to listen to what i had to say, after i pitched a fit, and we started trying different kinds of meds to see if we could find the perfect cocktail of meds. as of now, we have realized that i am not very tolerent of many but the ones i can take he gives to me without any problems. so what i'm trying to say is that everyone is different and every dr is different and both need to be educated about this illness. work with your dr and see if you can come up with a cocktail that will aleast make it tolerable until we can find out away to treat it effectively.

well said! Good job training your provider - I feel so bad for all the $$$$ wasted by folks like us because we keep getting sent around because nobody wants to be on the hook for the diagnosis & treatment. I mean, back when I was working if I knew an issue was going to come up & I was light on knowledge I do some reading before meeting with the client to bring myself up to speed.
