Hi! I haven't written a bio yet, but am glad to be here. In short, I was depressed as a kid, got FM at around 15, panic disorder at 22, all undiagnosed for at least 20 to 30 years. I'm now 60. I'm still kickin', although not as high as I once could, and on the list of symptoms for FM, I generally claim all but two....but those could show up any day.

I'm lucky to have a great (second) husband who believes me and doesn't care if the dishes aren't done or he can write his name in the dust on the furniture. I'm also lucky to have good kids and grandkids, and a dog who won't let me sit still too long before dragging me out for a walk....mostly against my will. I'm sure he thinks he's a therapy dog.

I've never been able to work for any sustained length of time and am short on Social Security credits, but I'm trying to fix that if I can. I may need some support and a lot of shoving from any who are willing to do it here!

I hope to both lend support, and will ask if I need it. Yes, I do have bad days, flares, fog, and chronic pain....and many times I've "given up".....but, I'm too stubborn to give in. I'm happy to have a chance to meet you all and grateful to those who started this site. Thanks!

Welcome, I just joined yesterday and am so glad that I did. The people here are so careing and supportive. It is amazing. You are lucky to have a wonderful husband and family. I have 6 wonderful children and a step daughter that has a one year old daughter. They are what keeps me going. I hope to become your friend and get to know more about you. I'm glad that you haven't given in! Somedays that would be easier than going through all of this. I am not going to let this illness win! Keep kick'n as high as you possibly can. Again, Welcome and have a Wonderful, Pain Free Day! I am here if you need someone to talk to, mommyofsix (Chris)

Mommyofsix....Tnx for the welcome! Fun to be newbies together. And thank you for wishing me a "wonderful, pain free day". What's that? Oh, I remember, it's after surgery when you've got a morphine drip....but can't remember much about it, although I think I asked my doc if he could pack that in my duffle....I'm a little fuzzy on that.

It sounds like you have a wonderful family. I have two daughters and three grandkids and I know they, too, keep me going, sometimes further than I should, but it's worth the aftermath. Unfortunately, the younger of my two daughters also developed FM and PD when she was 15. It broke my heart, but she's always been a little pit bull and forges ahead, and she inspires me to keep going by what she's accomplished....much more than I ever did.

I hope to get to know you better, too, as well as others on this site. I will try to keep up, but if I go missing, it's because I lost my way to the computer or misplaced my laptop...... (probably in the refrigerator).

Take good care and tnx for the good thoughts and invitation to talk. I truly appreciate your welcome! hype (Jan)

welcome!!!!! everyone here is wonderful, full of information and very supportive and caring!!

i completely understand what you mean by you have all the symptoms but 2 and their sure to show up soon. i swear since i was maybe 20 i've had symptoms since being diagnosed in 2005 i have had many different experiences so pains in the same place then they go away , then new pains then that goes away. it seems like its always something new w/ fibro. i hate surprises. i like things planned so when pains just start popping up here and there i get very annoyed. i'm 29, soon 30 so i know i have the rest of my life to look forward to upcoming pains, fun fun fun it can be very frustrating and annoying. hang in there, i'll keep you in my prayers

Cathy, thank you for the warm and encouraging welcome. I agree that it's so important to have support and warmth and hugs. This can be a lonely "disease" and it's great to be able to sit down and read the posts and feel like there are people willing to listen and not feel so alone. Wishing you a pain free day! ....hype

Hi Devon! Thank you for your welcome. All these good thoughts got me off the couch and I got some cleaning and laundry done! Now, of course, my back hurts. lol I wanted to clear the decks so I could come back here as a treat.

I'm sorry to hear you have FM, and even sorrier that you got it so young. Not that any age is a good one! I do truly understand your feelings as my FM daughter is 32.

When you mentioned understanding the pains coming and going, oh you bet. I didn't think of it when I made my name but it should have been paindujour!

I can empathize with feeling like this will be with you the rest of your life, but you're young enough that a real cure could be found for you and others. If one came along, I'm at that age when I'd probably get hit with arthritis, lumbago, gout, and Alzheimer's two seconds after I got rid of the FM.

I know how hard this is to come to terms with, but 45 years or so of it, and I can look back and say I had a life. Maybe not the one I'd liked in a lot of ways, but I remember the good stuff, and I got my share of good stuff. So hang in, hang tough, and live each day the best you're able....and keep believing there will be a cure!

Thank you so much for your welcome and your prayers. I will keep you in mine.

.....Jan
