Hey, Mommy of six. WOW. Thats MOM turned upside down. And WOW it must be to have that many children! I had 2 miscarriages and then gave birth to a 26 year old beautiful daughter (of course she was'nt 26 at the time!!!!:

WELCOME--WELCOME--WELCOME-You still have the chance if you feel the urge too - to run from fibro alien nation! We are wild, free, cool, and helpful, and sometimes just plain dumb. But thats ok. We like it that way.

As others have said this is the place to be>>>>I'm not real sure where "be" is, but this is it, and you should be hear.

Girl, we'll let you laugh, cry, vent, feel hopeless, useless and all of those wonderful things that come with fibro - but one thing we tend to not like too well, is when you start talking bad about yourself!Hey, we have enough people out their in the world that can do that just fine, even family members, so come here and we'll do our best to help take care of you. And then a day will come along and you will be reading someones post and you will feel just horrible to read the way that person feels about themselves - and the next thing you know, you're clicking away at the keyboard.

And I must admit - I have a very strong faith in my God. And I must admit sometimes I get tired of the "platitudes" (you know, God can make this better (well why did he wait so long?) I once was told that God would never put more on our plates that what we could handle. I remember thinking, "God, could you take this platter back and just give me a regular size plate )

Now there is a secret about me that I don't usualy share and maybe the more times we talk you might figure out what it is. And when you do, I'll share more than what you will want to know. But it's different for me than for the other ladies (that I am very proud of for boldly claiming their faith) because for some reason once they find this out about me, suddendly people just start to drift away/ I guess I make them unfortable. May God bless you and y our children and welcome to the group. Kathy

((((HUGS))) Kathy

Thank you all sooooo much! I feel welcome here and am able to express myself freely. I appreciate all the prayers and hugs from everyone. It just amazes me that I get more support and caring from people I don't really know than from the people in my home that supposedly love me. I hope to be of some help here also as we learn from each other. I just hope that my Fibro Fog doesn't get in the way too much. It takes me forever to type. I have to keep going back and correcting mistyped stuff or forgotten words. It's nuts! Again I want to thank you all. Have a wonderful day, Chris

Chris,

It amazes me that you have the time to type with six kids. You know I never heard the term "fibro fog" before I was involved in this group. My counselor and I called in "medication induced retardation". It is awful though. I have no short term memory. I see people that I used to know and I don't remember who they are. Anyway, I'm so glad you joined the group.

Hope all is well,

Sandi

Sandi,

I was very offended with your comment on Retardation. My Sister in law is mentally handicap and she knows better than to use terms that are degrading like that word. You and your couselor need to do community serve with some of these poor souls to learn they are human and have feelings also. It's another form of disability that can't be helped just like Fibro. And my Son is disabled as well with a mental disability. With you having a disability also I wouldn't have thought you of all people would have said something so degrading. I will pray for your small thoughts.

I am very sorry that my choice of words was offensive to you. I actually thought about it before I wrote it because of that reason, but made the poor choice of writing it anyway, Please know that upon reading your reponse it is hearby stricken from my vocabulary. I too have many people close to me that are mentally disabled. I would be very defensive and offended if I thought someone was huring them also. Please accept my apology and know that I will be more careful with my work and phrase choices in the future. My appologies to anyone else I offenended.

Sandi, I know that you meant no harm to anyone by the words you chose. You are not a hurtful person and people make mistekes. That is why there is forgiveness and understanding. i hope that this doesn't discourage you from posting. You have alot of good things to say. I looked up the definitions of both words:
Retardation: relatively slow or backward in mental or emotional development or in academic achievement. Handicap: A physical or mental disability that prevents or restricts normal achievement.
It is hard to know the right words sometimes without offending someone. I think that the way a word is used is most important. I will not let my children say the word retarded in a bad way and some people I know do not care for the word handicap. We are here to lend an ear, hand and support to one another. I think that the response that you recieved was pretty harsh and am sorry that you felt so bad. PLEASE keep posting! [ul] PDW, Please do not take offense to the things I wrote. I am not trying to be hurtful in anyway. I just thought that your response was pretty harsh. I worked with mentally challenged people for many years in the animal health services so they could find jobs and be out on their own. I was a very rewarding job. I hope that this doesn't end up to be an arguement in anyway. We are here to give and recieve help. Have a good day, Chris

I'm new here too and have found this to be the best support group for fibromyalgia (which I just realised I have been spelling wrong lol).I hope I spelled it right this time lol. I know exactly what you mean about the pain.I'm not taking anything for it right now and so far everything I have tried has not helped me at all.I'm waiting for a pain clinic to accept me right now.I go to my doctor on Monday so hopefully they will have some good news.

WElcome to our group. I hope you find us fun and informative. I don't see how you can stand the pain without any pain meds. You must be a very strong person. I hope you get in the pain clinic soom. They should be able to help you find relief.

I will pray they see you soon.

God Bless,

Sandi Wagner

Sandi, I too have areal problem with short term memory. My husband thought it was because of some of the meds. but after being on here I found out I am not alone. It drives me crazy. I used to have such a good memory and I could remember anything, numbers, addresses, whatever and I hate this not being able to remember the day of the week. When I went to the SSD doc. he asked me the date, it was Feb. 2nd and I told him November something. I felt so stupid. He sat there and talked to me some more and then in his report to SSD he told them that I didn't seem to have any problems and I could go back to my old job as an office manager. I could just see my boss's face if I told him I had a message in Feb. for Nov.
