MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

I do have Fibro. I was dianosed when no one would believe the disase. My mom thought it was in my head till she started hearing the word more and more. I am so very tired of it all. I can't find a good doctor where i just move too. My Primary doc things i should see are head doctor for what i need. Angry I hate it when this happens. What do you do for the pain?

There are times where I don't get the sleep i need and it hurts more so right now I am not doing so well, but i hope with your help adn the help of others i can get better. I had a DOC for my Fibro about 7 years ago and have been able to get what i needed but now i have moved and the DOC's here think i need a head doc. They think its... I don't really know what they think I can only Imagine Shocked

Thank you for the welcome. Made me smile and I know i will get more help here then from my doc. I just had a knee replacement and my Ortho is prescripting my Elavel for me. But i can't go to the Doc but every 2 months cause he is 3 hours from my home. His wife was my Fibro doc. I can't get to her now but i hope to soon. Just money is tight and i am on disablity.

I will be able to post more later. I share this puter with an addicted internet user adn ican get one once or twice a day. Till i go home. I am staying with my mom now.

Talk to you later

Hi Jacee. Most people used to think that there was no such thing as Fibro~ like you say until more and more information started to surface. I believe that there is still those that don't beleive that such a thing exist. Being a chronic pain sufferer (due to a failed surgery) I understand what it's like to have people raise an eyebrow..

My suggestion would be to see a pain specialist instead of your PCP. A pain management Dr. can assess your condition and provide the appropriate treatment. I have been with my pain doc since 2001 and although I am not completely pain free, my meds do help. Good luck and let me know what happens...

Hello sweet Jacee! Welcome to the forum sweetie. I am so sorry you are suffering. You are not alone. Have you seen the commercials about Fibro, it is coming more obvious, although it is still in the background it seems. I would get on the internet and request literature on Fibro. I know Pfizer has a welcome packet and a newsletter for fibro sufferers. Request the packet, it has a booklet that explains exactly what fibro is and how it effects us.

Now of course, when you receive the packet, it promotes Lyrica, which is fine, at least it will give your mom a chance to realize that even medicines exists for this disorder. And again, you may be interested in Lyrica. Just request as much literature online to be mailed to your home.

I sure am glad you are here with us honey, i hope to see your stories and your triumphs against this terrible and painful disorder. Please, ask away.

Oh, about the pain relief. I am currently on Lyrica, which by no means is a cure all for me, but has helped many people. I too, can not sleep and am lucky to break 3 hours. It does cause the worst fibro fog, depression and extreme pain and achiness. I am going to start Melatonin tonight to help in my sleep. There are so many fibromites here that will throw in some information, all you have to do is soak it all up and ask your questions, I know they will be answered with enthusiastic compassion.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

I am just like you and I am on MDJ for support and true friendship. Please, always consult with your doctor about medical advice and medication, never take one's opinion regarding your most precious asset which is your life.

WELCOME JACEE,

YOU HAVE TO FIND A RHEUMETOLOGIST. HE OR SHE CAN GIVE YOU A DIAGNOSIS. I AM ON GABAPENTIN, FOR SLEEP TEMAZEPAM. IT WORKS WELL FOR ME AND IS CHEAP AT WALMART. ONE OF THEIR $4OR $10 MEDS.

I AM ALSO ON AN ANTIDEPRESSANT. CITALOPRAM...ANOTHER

CHEEPIE FROM WALMART.

I USE LAVENDER LOTION ON MY FEET FOR SLEEP AS WELL.

FOR PAIN I SOAK IN A TUB W/ EPSOM SALTS. THE MAGNESIUM IN THE SALTS IS GOOD FOR ACHES.

TRY DOING STRETCHES TOO. I DO THEM WHEN I WAKE UP.

BEFORE I GET OUT OF BED. DO WHAT EVER FEELS GOOD.

DON'T PUSH TOO HARD...YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO!!

KEEP READING AND ASKING QUESTIONS. WE ALL HAVE OUR "LITTLE TRICKS". YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WORKS FOR YOU LOVE. WHAT WORKS FOR ME...MAY NOT HELP YOU AT ALL.

BIG HUGS,

LINDA LOU

I can't speak from experience because I am just going to try this as of today for sleep. Some friends here say that Melatonin is the way to go. You can buy it at your local Health store, or even at walmart I believe. I have terrible issues with sleep Jacee, and I know that contributes to the Fibro pain and foggies. You need sleep girlfriend. You should really try some Melatonin. I am going to start today with it and will keep you posted.
