Hey there Elisheva. I definitely eat more veggies than fruit. I eat about four servings of fruit a day, and it's fresh fruit. I have a hard time eating breakfast so I usually don't, but I don't recommend that. On a good day my fruit servings can include: a banana, a good crunchy apple, fresh black berries, and a melon of some sort. It's expensive but worth the money. Some times I mix fruits with ice and yogurt and make a fruit smoothie for an afternoon treat.

Give a try and let me know how it works. Good luck.

Ok, four servings is about what I eat. Some people say not to eat so much fruit, but I really like it. I've read that it's best to eat fruit on an empty stomach. Since I started doing that it doesn't upset my tummy as much. Have you tried eating fruit for breakfast?

I usually eat fresh canteloupe, a pink lady apple or two (love them, have you tried them?), a pear and maybe a banana if I have onhand. The trouble is getting my hubby to go to the store as often as needed to keep me in stock with fresh fruit.

Do you go for organic too? It makes expensive fruit all the more expensive, right? I try to eat it when I can, but sometimes it's just not worth the cost or they don't have what I want so I have to get the regular fruit. I really like organic grapes and usually won't eat regular grapes since the pesticide is so bad on them. Same with peaches.

Thanks for your response!

Elisheva

I am on 600mg of Lyrica a day and cymbalta 60mg a day and I have lost 23 lbs since Sept 07. I really think that the Cymbalta has decreased my appetite. It has gone done about 50-60%. I eat a bowl of oatmeal the real stuff not quacker oats. I use Guava for the sweetner. then I eat about 2 hand fuls of this mix of nuts called digestive health mix by planters. It has pistachios in it and they are great for fiber and the are packed with manganese it is good for pain. then maybe some grapes for a snack and then a small dinner and I am very satisfied. I used to be a gorger. I would eat everything and anything...I was up to 220 and now I am in the low 190's. It is great...

Hi BLB - You and I are/were about the same weight. I am still weighing in at 210 - I am on the ELAVIL and I am feeling SO tired each and every day. I don't know if it's the Elavil or the FM, or both. But my doc said in one month of the Elavil is not working, he will prescribe me Cymbalta. Honestly, if it curbs your appetite, I hope it will curb mine too LOL! I just don't know which diet to start on---but I am definately leaning more and more toward low carb/Atkins type diet and starting on Monday. I NEED to lose this weight, or at least get back to "onederland" (In the 100's) LOL. Thanks for your post and GOOD LUCK to you too.

okay this is a hard subject for me to bring up and i may offend a few of you not atht it is my intention.. but i really want to speak up cause i feel that it may help someone ... Before i got FMS i used to weigh 110 pounds ( sorry im canadian .. i know its diff) basically i was really tiny now I weigh 210 pounds it really sucks becasue i really cant excersise much not enough to make the difference i need and I took it really hard .. I wanted to commit suicide over my weight gain i felt grotesque and very unnatractive i felt taht my life was over.. I know that sounds sad but it really got to me I used to be very athletic so I guess thats why but .. then i decided to do something very extreme.. i ecided to find a photographer to take really beautiful pics of me ones that are building their portpolios up and will take the pics for free basically you are a model for them and you get a whole cd of free pics !! well i went a step fuirther and i did some VERY very tasteful semi nudes and when i got those pics back I was shocked at what i saw a new respect for my strange not normal body came over me... I found beauty in me for the first time in 4 years i could see taht i might not be the same weight and i might never be again but i could still find me in there soemwhere ... i guess i just wanted to remind everyone taht if you want to lose the weight and you can then great but if you cant and are soo unhappy try to do something that might give you a different persectiv eon wher eyou are right now ... I havent lost weight but i havent gained any wither I have bneen able to partly curb my emotional eating ( not totally) and i can enjoy myself a little more instead of absoloutley dreading mirrors... my body is covered in streatch marks and rolls but you know what i dont despise it as much anymore .... well at least not thecosmetic side soemtiems i still wish i could get a new body for the pain factor and i really am sorry if i have offended anyone with my very straightforward talk but i just feel like i could share soemthing with that...

Wow, what an honest perspective on something so many of us are dealing with. Before I go Sick, I weighed 125 lbs and worked out and was proud of houw I looked and now I weigh 170 lbs and I avoid mirrors and feel bad about how I look. I wish I could learn to love myself the way I am, like you have done. It would make my life so much more enjoyable. I did finally buy some new clothes. I got the sizes that fit and you know I don't look too bad. I try to diet, but it is so hark. And now they have upped my lyrica. Sometines I feel lide I am fighting a losing battle. Your post meant alot to me. Thanks for your honesty.

I too have gained a lot of weight and I thought it was just me and not being able to move a lot. I used to weigh 110 and now at 165 at 4 ft. 10 In. I try to watch what I eat and I try not to eat anything that I don't think has any nutritional value, like pancakes and waffles, twinkies, and things like that. I love chocolate milk but is the taste worth the calories? My doctor also recommended exercise but I hurt so bad after that it isn't worth it. I also have been diagnosed with RA. I read the info on the fruits and veggies and am going to try that for drinks etc. I have noticed carbonated drinks seem to have a bad effect on me so the drinks ideas will be very helfpul.
