Hi Danlen,

I'm kind of new here myself but have found more support and inspiration than you could immagine. Just knowing there are so many others like us is comforting. I was diagnosed with lupus and fm on my 40th b-day. My one year anniversary is next week. Ive been telling people I'll be 51 just so I can hear how good I look.

As far as advice, you need to find a pain specialist and a rhumatologist if you don't already have one. You'll probably be referred to a psych doc too. Many of us seem to be depressed or bipolar also, probably from dealing with the pain and no one believing us. My case is a little different. Lupus does show up on a blood test, but usually it's the fm that effects my life the most.

I hope you find this site as helpful as I do. We're not alone.

psk

Danlen, welcome to the site! Psk is right - there is a lot of info here & everyone is very supportive. On my bad days, I take my meds but also listen to relaxation cds to help calm me down. It seems like the negative chatter gets going like wildfire in my head when I am in the most pain. The cds help me to really focus on slowing my breathing and truly relaxing which allows the meds to work better.

Best of luck to you! Let us know how we can help...ask your questions, vent, be silly. Whatever you need, we are here for you!

hi danlen welcome to the group. my bad days are just that. bad days. i take my meds including anti anxiety meds and sometimes a heavy duty pain killer. if i can't sleep i play games on the computer. that way i don't tax my body to much and i keep my mind from going too negative. there are somedays that i can only hang on for the ride because nothing makes much of a difference.

I'm so very sorry danlen,I(we)know u hurt very bad. The pain u have u will have to try to get used to it, we all are on some-kind of medication, (and Lyrica is the only medicine for FM, it helps for some but, not for everyone.) that doesn't work. Sad You should be able to find things that help sooth u sometimes, like taking a warm soothing bath. If u have a hot tub, that might be nice, u may have to adjust the temp. This site 1st of all wants to WELCOME u. And we want to let u know u can come here to vent, smile, cry, for any reason what so ever, get lots of information, the sky is the limit! "WE ARE FMILY" So enjoyW00t and start asking all of ur questions!!!!!!Like i said WELCOME!

I do know about lupus, my sister passed from lupus at the young age of 47 just 3 yrs ago. I am so glad to find others with the same pain I have. I had never heard of it until this past December. Thanks for having me here.

So funny, I am 36 and always tell people I feel 80! I get so tired of hearing, "Oh, you're too young to have that problem..." for whatever it is I'm struggling with. Welcome. This is truly a great site for sharing and caring with fellow FM sufferers.
