Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I am 41 and was diagnosed with fibro almost 20 years ago, although I had symptoms prior to that. I had terrible symptoms for years, then had some years where my symptoms were pretty mild, then the last 2 years things have gotten very bad again. I am going to see a new rheumatologist in April, so I am hopeful and have heard good things about her. The only med I take is 10mg of paxil. I am very sensitive to meds and try to take as little as possible. I also have issues with anxiety and depression. I don't feel the paxil has worked for me for quite some time, but I get much worse if I try to get off it and worse if I increase my dosage, so I am kind of stuck right now. Hopefully this doc will have some good suggestions.

I am also very interested in alternative therapies, such as vitamins, nutrition, acupuncture, etc. I have 2 boys, ages 5 and 9, and am a registered ER nurse. Thankfully I can work whenever I want (I am per diem) so lately am only working 1 or 2 shifts a week, never more than 8 hours. Even that is knocking me out. I also went through a bad episode of anxiety/depression last year and I think that kicked the fibro into even higher gear.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I look forward to meeting other like-minded people and making some friends!

Welcome Casey1231. I was dx with Fibro around 15 years ago. I am like you , I had some periods of time when I was feeling pretty darn good, but then the sx always came back like gangbusters. Tried to learn to accept it.

Again, welcome!
