Hi, I am new here. I can not really say when I found out I had Fibromyalgia. It has been a battle of the last 10 year to find help with the pain. I started Lyrica last year. I think it helped

some, as least at first. But the last few weeks I have had the worst pain I have ever known. My doctor will not give me anything more then ultram (sp?) and it's not working. If I could stay home when it hurts I think I could make it. But the rent and the need to pay bills drags me to work no matter how beat I feel. I tired to talk to my doctor about this but I feel like I got no where. A couple people at work know about my fms and gave me a few other ideas to try, like going to a pain management doctor or acupuncture. Has anyone try other forms of treatment the found helpful?

I am looking for someone to talk to who understands what is like to live with pain. I don't have any friends who understand. They think you can take pill and everthing is ok again.

Hello and welcome! I go to a pain center and my pain doctor is wonderful! I tried Lyrica and it did nothing but make me dizzy. Cureently, he has me on Oxycontin, Percocet, Neurontin, Valium and Cymbalta, which does help aleveate some of my pain and I do sleep most of the time thru the night now! I would definately try to go see a pain doctor and I have not tried actupuncture, but I heard that it has helped others. I would try to find a pain doctor as soon as u can cause it took me about 2 months to get in and see him for my 1st appt. And I think I can speak for evryone here that we are all here for each other and will be here for u if you need someone to talk to!

Welcome to the site! Feel free to tell us how you are feeling and if you have any questions. We are here for you in all seasons of the fibro. We all help each other in many ways and I'm sure you will have input for us as well.

As for the pain, I have tried accupuncture before but it didn't give me immediate relief. I did feel better during the appt but then as soon as I got on the hwy to go home (during rush hr) some of the pain would come back. Then, by the next day I would feel just as bad as before the appt. I only went about 5 times. He said that he really thought he could help me, but it was too costly and stressful to get from work to the appt & back & take care of childcare at the same time. Maybe if I tried it now since I don't work anymore it would be a diff story. Who knows?

I agree with Prince. Get a pain dr ASAP. I love my pain dr and really think they are helping me the best they can. Best of luck to you...

I understand that popping pills all the time isn't any way to live our days out on Earth. And they only mask the pain not take it away. My husband was also in the wreck that started my pain and he went to a chiropractor that claims to help myofascia patients. I haven't tried it I don't like someone poppin me, I told my dr. that the body isn't suppose to pop like that. LOL. I don't know if it really works or just a fluke.

I did prolotherapy and it did work for me I quit treatments a little early because of money issues. The treatments are costly but well worth it. I had forgotten how much pain I was in until I was rear ended about two weeks ago and the pain is in full swing again.

I am just getting ready to start my busy season with work too so I have to get things in order somehow because I have to work also. My husband has a decent job but not good enough to support four kids five dogs, a cat, and the two of us.

I asked the dr. if insurance would buy me a hottub she laughed and said if you were on medicare maybe. I think the heat and motion would really help right now. I have a jetter tub and fill it up a lot and it helps but the water gets cold and it takes half hour to fill up. I am very impatient and don't want to wait on the water to be full.

I don't know how some of you on the forum has stood the pain for so many years. I have for two now but did get relief for about six months. Now that I am in full swing pain I am beside myself again. It is always on my mind I am more grouchy and irritable. I don't want to miss anything with my kids they are only small once and I want to enjoy them. Now how can I if I am in pain all the time.

Well two of the four just woke up and greeted me with a beautiful good morning so I am off here to spend quality time w. kids and go to church. God please take my pain away!

The treatment for myofascia isnt popping and its not really a massage they dig into your tender points and work them out. It really is great therapy and you feel so much better just remember to eat and drink water or you'll leave feeling like your drunk. I made that mistake a couple of times and my husband had to come pick me up. But Im not a morning eater so the early appointments get me everytime

In my case a good chiropractor put bones back in place that were out of alignment. Back when I had a chiro that i worried would be too rough, I did open my big mouth and ask for a different way. There are some who only press or palpate, etc, too, so there are other styles around. I found that a better chiropractor moves as little as possible, moving small areas sometimes with popping sounds and other times it is more like pressing, but being careful not to just loosen the whole area up. It helps everything flow better - because often the things not in their places are pressing on other things. Your nerves are like the main electrical wiring in your house, and they branch off so if something is pinched "up the line" then it affects areas it feeds to. BTW - You can get great stretches, exercises, and suggestions too - you always get more if you ask!

I tried chiroprsctor. One really helped. He told me if I ever got hurt again not to go because they would do damage. Sure enough I got reinjured when living somewhere else. I couldnt find a dr who knew what was wrong just told me something wrong with musces and i was totaly disabled. I got frustrated went to a chiropractor who gave me nerve damage. The point is you really need to be careful. You never know who really will help or hurt.

True! Twice I got chiros who were recommended because each treats the local sports team; and both were good. When I moved that was the first thing I asked. My current chiro is great! He is a model of how to treat a patient and of good listening, etc. He is the only one that could treat my neck without an activator when it binds up....and he was a teacher at a chiropractic college. They are just "good people" - for an example, he gave anyone a free chiro treatment if they donated to a foodbank during their food drive. They provided a meal also! He was baasically investing in the community and teaching/reinforcing us for wanting to give. This is just an example of the many ways I get extra - inspiration, pearls of wisdom, etc by going there. Truly, all are not alike so you do not have to commit to a practitioner if you are not sure it's the best place to be.

All of my friends and relatives (who don't have Fibro) have asked me if I had seen a chiropractor. And no I have not. To tell u the truth, I think that they will cause me more pain than I am already in. And so far none of my doctors have recommended a good one, well they have'nt even mentioned going to see a chiropractor.

I have heard htat also. I tried it and paid dearly. I hope that you do not have the same experience. The Cymbalta you mentioned, stick with it,it has done wonders for me, it really does help. I found that even though they suggested taking it in the morning, It worked better for me to take it at night, it made me lightheaded too and I was able to lay down and that subsided. I am on 90 mg nad have been for 2 yrs now, I hope it works for you the same. May you have a great, pain free day, lots of soft, non painful hugs your way
