"I have Crohn's Disease along with Fibromyalgia." (katiek)

MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Hi. My name is Haley, I'm 29 year old stay at home mom. DH Brent is 28, and Kelsie is 5. She starts school this year. I'm really into crafts, and anything that has to do with my family. I have a ton of animals. We live in a really small town.

I was hoping for some support, and help. It's really difficult living with this disease, and most of the time my family treats me like I should feel better than what I do. I'm frustrated, and I'm sure they are too. I thought that maybe I could deal with all of this a little better by being part of a group that has to deal with the same things. Fibromyalgia is a terrible disease, and causes me terrible physical pain. I'm trying to get off all my meds. They have me on all kinds of stuff right now. It helps, but there has to be a better way.

Welcome HaleyMarie,

I'm glad you decided to post and join in. I'm sure many of the others could chime in with similar stories about getting support from your immediate circle of friends and family when they hear the words .. Fibromyalgia.. For a while my mom made it seem like it was my fault and would try to guilt me into "feeling better" by reminding me that I have two children who need me.

After explaining to her that she was now no doubt going to go to hell and probably die soon of horrible cancer .. Oh wait I thought that and I don't think it came out, but I forget sometimes...

Actually I'm fortunate to have a very supportive wife and did indeed need to take serious time to find the right doctor who would be patient enough and encouraging enough to hang in there with me and make my suffering a little less burdensome. It also took serious time in educating my family about what this disease is and that currently there is no "Cure" but treatments and that it wasn't about them.

There are some very awesome people in this group and people who have devoted serious time and effort to research and have generously posted their information here. I hope their information helps you and that you will find this as a place of refuge.

Welcome again.

It's so nice to know that I'm not alone in the family thing. My family is ok about it. They aren't really accepting that it's not ever going to go away, but my husbands family is bad. They think that they know all about how bad pain is, and it will pass, and I will get better. I hate to be negative, but NO. I wont get better, and NO they don't know what pain is if they think that I don't need to be taking pain medication for what's going on now. I'm doing well to walk on 90mg of morphine ER and 25mg of Lyrica 3x a day.

My husband is very supportive. He doesn't really want to know much about the disease. He just wants me to be comfortable. He doesn't understand it, and doesn't want to kind of things, but he's not like his family about the meds, or telling me that he knows that I'm not in that much pain. He just kind of goes with the flow. Some days I feel ok enough to do a load of laundry. Most days I don't. I'm sure I'll get better sometime soon with the pain. For me it comes and goes in about 2-3 year areas. Very strange. I hear it's pretty typical for chronic pain Fibromyalgia patients.

I'm glad I could be of some help. How are you doing on the Lyrica. I hear a lot of positive from people that have been treated on it. I didn't really respond well to it, but again I hear raving reviews which is great and encouraging. Also, does the morphine help?

Also, be assured that the disease is very much related to chronic pain as well as chronic fatigue and definitely leads to depression which most doctors will agree should be treated as well.

I wish you the best and again hope we can continue to be a source of support for you.
