I have not been in the 21st century for awhile. I was chemically injured in Indiana, a no fault state and my whole existence has had to evolve around my capabilities. My whole life was energy and adventure. Now I get such bad burning in my back, especially my shoulders and neck. But over the years and through the flare-ups it has turned into my arms and hands burning, muscle spasms so strong that I have awaken to feelings of being attacked because my head and right arm and right leg where systematically jerking me backwards. The doctors have recently discovered it is not just Fibromyalgia, but a central nervous system injury, I was put through so many tests to find out the extant of the injury, that I stopped participating. I am going to have to find some much needed medical care soon. I am running out of the meds I was given. Any luck with less painful methods to recovery? Good alternative treatments?

Hi Injured

They tell me that excercise helps and keeps the muscles loose, but at the same time to limit the excercise because we can overdo and not realize then be down for days. Something else I have found to help is heat/ice. Heat 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, then ice for 15 min, then off, and repeat. It helps some.

What I find to give me the most relief is a little machine you clip on your belt or waistband called a TENS unit. It's electro therapy and OMG does it help, and even more when using heat/ice with it. It stimulates the muscles deep and feels like you are getting a massage. That's one GOOD thing my Doc got me onto. Thankfully!! Ask your Doc if you can try it. (And btw, it's cheaper to buy it than rent it. It's from Empi, Their web site is www. empi.com click on products, Pain Management, EPIX VT--That's the one you want! ) Get the one with the 9 volt rechargeable if you can. The AA's with charger only last maybe 25 minutes whereas the 9 volt you can wear all day, have it on high, and it won't run out of juice. I've even used it going to bed. Helps me sleep good too.

Good luck Hon and I hope this helps. Very nice to meet you!

Pamela {please}

I wish tons of love and hugs!

sorry it took so long to reply, hopefully I can have my friend show me how to navigate this site better. I have been in extreme pain for so many years that I never felt the desire to type. Needless to say, the pain has gotten bad enough that my WHOLE life had to change. I have tried a TENS unit and it actually irritates my muscles and sometimes will cause an electric blockage and then shock the bejesus outta me. I'm glad that you have found some comfort in it though. I do rotate heat and cold until I get a nice numb feeling. do you like vitamins or aromatherapy? I have found that a multivitamin daily (Centrum) gives me some needed energy and oddly enough decreases the burning sensation through out my body. Have you ever been to a chiropractor? A lot of ppl don't try it or stick to it long enough, but I could not stand up-right or turn my head because my muscles were so constricted that after I did the ice/heat combo for a week, he could adjust me and I have been feeling better by the therapy for 8 years. I like to go 2-3 times a week and get therapy 2-3 times while only 1-2 adjustments. I just moved to a new town and need to find the right chiropractor. I went to one and I was worse for a week! So, before you check one out, make sure they are aware of your conditions and go for a newer approach other than the old time "alignment."hopr to hear from ya soon!!

Oh boy, what a nightmare this has been for you! I'm in Indiana too, by the way. Have you tried massage therapy? When I was really bad I went to one and it was just amazing! I was very careful the first time and made sure that the therapist didn't get wild and crazy and make me worse!

Just remember to drink several glasses of water after a massage or you'll feel like you've been hit by a truck. You have to wash out the toxins the massage breaks loose.

My DH is the same way with the TENS. Can't use it. Yes, I have a Chiropractor, only trouble is having the money to go see him. He doesn't have hydrotherapy or anything like that, but adjustments feel good when I can. I'd LOVE to get massages, and I'd think I was in heaven if I got them regularly! LOL

Water is always so important. I just wish it would help cleanse and get rid of all the swelling and fluids I've collected.

My chiropractor said working on me was like getting a workout(for him)He would be sweating when he was done, and hardly anything would move. The last time I went he said it would take a sledge hammer to move the muscles in my neck and back. I did love massage therapy, but can't afford it and the insurance doesn't cover it for me. Do you have any disc damage InjurednIN?I ask, because that burning is what I feel when I had disc damage and still have after the surgery.

Can't wait to hear about it Suzee....Does tea count as well as water? I can't seem to eat much anymore and I can't stand any pop or water but I live on tea with a very minimum of sugar added.

Pm me please with the link to it when you post it. My memory is.....um, what were we talking about?

Oh yeah, yes, there was a lot of ice when I got up this morning but....um....

Yes I will be happy to hear of something else good to drink.....um....

No, we don't drink alcohol, had an abusive alcoholic ex for 18 1/2 years.......um.......

I like Crystal light, no that's not it, I mean yes I like it, but there is another one I drink, packed with vitamins and you add it to a water bottle. I won't go to the kitchen to check, as I know I won't remember what I'm there to find. Yes, I'm serious! lol That's the funny part....I'm serious!

Suzee I can't wait to hear what this wonderful product is. I don't drink pop or anything with sugar in it,mostly just coffee I know probably not the best thing but it works for me. I have been working at drinking more water, but I really dont like water.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
