I am totally new at this, so bare with me. Has anyone tried Requip for their fibromyalgia? I got up to 10 mg and it was like a miracle drug? I was taking it off label. I felt better and had more energy than I had had in over 10 years. It is very difficult to adjust to. You have to go up by small increases in dosage. However, right before Thanksgiving, I missed 1 night, and by the next night when it was time to take again, I had a 2 1/2 hour "seizure". It was triggered by the lact of the nervous system receiving its dosage. It was horrible. The next day every, and I mean every fibro point and all of my joints were swollen and bruised. I looked like I had been in an accident. Then just 6 weeks ago I was diagnosed with medicine induced diabetes. This can sometimes be a rare side effect on the higher dosages. Now on 2 oral medications for diabethes and being weaned off of the Requip. Don't know yet if diabetes will go with it. Any others with problems with requip and fibro?

Requip is a medicine that is advertised all the time on the tv for Restless Leg Syndrome. Only in 1 - 2 mg dosages. For more severe pain some "fibro specialists" are now using this in their various clinics. You can take a maximun of 12-15 mg a day. It is a medicine for parkinsins disease. If you have that, the maximun dose is 24 mgs. It is very hard on the stomach, but once you are used to it, it works wonders. Had to take phenergan the whole time while on higher dosages. Now and cut down to 5 mg and still will go on down to see if it takes care of the medicine induced diabetes. If you take it - DON'T EVER MISS A DOSE !!!!

please tell me more how you take it in small dosages throughout the day. That is interesting. I took the whole dosage at bedtime. Also, be careful, don't ever miss a dose. It was very severe for me. Maybe it won't do that to your system. I pray not.

I was put on Requip for my Restless Leg Syndrome only 1mg. I never knew in higher doses it could be tried for Fibro. That's horrible what you had to go through! I wish you the best and I'm glad you found us!

I get severely ill if I take the requip pill in any stronger form than the 1 mg but that taken at 2--4xaday plus as needed works in keeping the muscles and inner tremors somewhat in check. I know that it will never be 100% but if i can keep it at 50% i will be happy.

I wished my doc would let me try that. But after the higher dosage triggered diabetes, he may have to wean me off completely. Thanks for the info!
