Hello, my name is Kelly and it's comforting to know I'am not alone! I'am 44 years old, mother of 5 and have fibro complicated with hyper-reflexia with spasms. I take 150mg of Lyrica 3 times daily, Zoloft 100mg at night, valium 5-10 mg every 4-6 hours, oxycodone 5-10mg every 4-6 hours, and I ws just started on Cymbalta 30mg for 2 weeks then increase to 60 mg daily!!!With all these meds I work fulltime as a RN. But I still have massive leg pain, sitting, standing, and walking are difficult for me. It hurts to sit but hurts worse to try and stand, like I'm tearing my leg muscles just to stand, get my balance and walk. I feel like a walking pharmacy. Does nyone have any suggestions for pain relief and medication reduction?

First I want to welcom you to this wonderful group of people. This group has been my saving grace.

As far as medications are concerned it's different for everyone, one thing that works for one may not work for another. Unfortunatly it's a trial and error thing. I had to stop working because of the pain that I was in. I can't walk for long as it is when the family wants to go places.

I take lots of baths to help with the muscle tension but other then that I really haven't found much that helps. If you ever need anything I'm only a PM away.

Hi Kelly, welcome. I have fibro and CMP. I get the muscle spasm in my legs during big flares. They can last for days... But luckily its not every day. I take soma and vicodin every 4-6 hours for pain. And I take trazadone at night. I did have Xanax but my refill was denied a few days ago and said screw it.... they didn't do much anyway. I'll talk to him in a 2 weeks at my appointment. I gave me Lyrica, but I didn't take it. I told him I didn't like what I was reading. He got kind of mad at me.. I was also on Cymbalta until two days ago. I stopped cold turkey. I have been taking 60 mg for about 8 months but the last few months something changed and I got every weird side effect including depression, suicidal ideation and constant buzzing in my head. My doctor wanted me to go up to 90mg the last time I saw him. I said I would, but I didn't take them because deep down I knew that something wasn't right. I needed to know if the weird feelings in my head was all fibro or more. For me, it turned out to be the cymbalta. Work was very hard. I'm a systems analyst working with part numbers in the biotech industry. I was struggling to concentrate..... Sorry, I started rambling... I'm just so happy that I feel better after two days off the cymbalta. I've missed the past two days of work, so I'm really hoping things are alot clearer there tomorrow too. I know I didn't help you... but welcome to the site!!

Hey Hon, welcome to the family! I know what you mean about feeling like a walking pharmacy. I take 25 pills a day, have two topical meds and a nasal spray. Then I have to do shots and an enema once a week. Cymbalta actually worked really well for me. Lyrica on the other hand did nothing but give me all of the bad side effects. i dont know if this helps, my doc wont give me any heavy pain med because I am only 19 and he doesn't want me to get addicted. I have learned how to cope most of the time and I take 2 tylenol pm to try to control the pain enough to sleep.

I just want you to know that you are no longet alone. I love to listen to others stories and I have been sick for a long time so I understand. you are in my thoughts and my prayers. I am excited to get to know you and to hear from you soon!

Lots of love, soopergirl

Hello Soopergirl, I can't imagine starting a life of disarray and pain at the tender yong age of 19. I was very furtunate, well not really furtunate,

but I have only suffered for 3 years, just being diagnosed with a definitive diagnosis 1 year ago. You are the same age as my yongest child, I love her dearly, but you sound like a very strong young woman. I don't think she would have the positive attitude, if she were in your shoes. I look forward to talking to you in greater detail, just not tonight. I am sitting in a hotel room 4 hours from home, I have a confrence to attend in the morning, and as you know sleep is very important, for me anyway!!!

good night, Kelly

KBourdon, First of all, welcome! Glad you joined the family. I am getting tired, so will try to keep this short. As for the pain meds, I take Skelaxin, Celebrex, Cymbalta, Vit D, Atenolol (for heart), and Ambien to help me sleep. I too stay home now - girls are 12 & 9.

I think what helps me most is the circle of support that I put around me. My hubby is very understanding & kids have learned that sometimes I can't do things cuz the body won't allow it. If the pain gets really bad, I usually cry like a baby. My hubby then rubs Biofreeze where it hurts and talks/prays with me. Sometimes if money isn't tight I go & get professional massage. Otherwise Iuse my bed buddy which provides moist heat. Oh - and sometimes I sit in my jaccuzzi tub with the water really as hot as I can get it.

Best of luck to you...I hope one of our "home remedies" helps you. Otherwise, here's a soft hug for you. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
