MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Hi, my name is Jane, I have had fibromyalgia for a long time!! Usually, most people don't understand. They think you are lazy or a hypocondriac. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with it and I have 2 sisters that have fibro. I don't know if it is genetic or not, but it sure does seem to be that way!!

Wecome Jane! I'm so glad that you joined this group. I personally have not heard anything about it being genetic or not. I am the only one in my family that has it. But that is a great question. I'm sure one of the members will try to answer that queation. In the meantime, I'll try to research it and see what I can find out.

Here you go Jane! This is a bit of info that I had saved on my computer.

Even though no fibromyalgia genetic markers have been found, there are studies documenting high prevalence of the syndrome among certain families

I just found something else that states:

Fibromyalgia does run in familes, but the exact genetic nature of this heredity linkage is not yet known.

I think that they really do not know! These are 2 seperate articles with 2 different answers. Sorry! I'll go thru the articles I have and do a percentage of yes's ond no's!lol

Hi Jane and Welcome!

As far as I know, I am the only one in my family with Fibro. I hope it is not genetic because I would not want any one else to go through what I do. How old is your daughter? I'm happy that you found us!

Terri
