I think I might have Fibromyalgia?

Hello everyone.

If anyone could help me It would be much appreciated as I can't afford to see a doctor at the moment. I'm 19 years old and have suffered from GAD (Generalized Anxiety disorder) and depression since the age of 12. When I turned 14 I started getting strange aches and pains, which I thought was just a symptom of my anxiety. Well since the age of 14 I have not been able to get out of pain and I've tried just about everything. I'm very poor and cannot afford to see a specialist. When I tell my regular doctor he just blows me off and thinks I'm trying to get drugs I think.. I'm really lost as to what to do. My pain is the worst when I first wake up. My joints constantly pop when I stretch or move around. My shoulders, neck and lower back. It all hurts. I've heard of people with Fibro having certain pressure points that hurt to the touch? I'm not sure where these points are but I do have places on my back and neck that hurt very much. I can't sleep at night because the pain is almost unbearable. I really would appreciate some feedback. Should I just assume this is my anxiety causing all this? I've tried pain relievers, excerise, mediation, hot-baths, nothing helps! I also heard that it is rare for people my age to have this disease, is that true? Thank you so much for reading and for any advice on the matter.Unsure

Hi Panicked and welcome to the forums. I think you've gotten some answers to your questions over on the General Forum, so I'll just say Welcome to the Group!

Hi, welcome, I'm glad you are asking questions, and if no one else said it yet, fire your doctor and find a new one.

Hi, I agree with ushie that you should find a new doctor that will help you. I'm working on getting a full diagnosis from a rheumetologist but my primary doctor has suspected I have fibro since October of last year. Webmd.com has some really good information on fibromyalgia including where the tender spots are and some other symptoms. Over the counter pain medications don't do anything for me either, I quit taking them. Don't give up and don't let the doctor intimidate you into thinking you're just trying to get meds. Good luck and welcome to the forums.
