MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Hi!

This is my first time on this forum. I have had Fibromyalgia for the past three years. I think I have tried everything under the sun to relieve my pain. I don't know why nothing seems to help. I have such sensitivity to medication that I really have to be careful. The majority of medication that I tried made me very sick. I am currently on Lexapro, Klonopin, Nortriptyline, Maxalt-10, and Ambien. These are the only ones that I can tolerate. As for my pain, they do not help. Any suggestions?

Terri

Hi Terri! Welcome to the site.

I think you'll find a lot of help for yourself in a lot of exchanges between each other. Feel free to share or vent whenever the need. We all understand how pain can push us till we want to SCREEEAAAMM!

So relax and enjoy!

As far as your meds your taking, I don't think any of them are for pain! Some are muscle relaxants or like valium (I could be wrong and these wonderful guys will free to correct me )and some are antidepressants.

At least tht's what I think. What have the docs given you specificaly for pain? Like Vicodine, Darvocstts, Ultram and many more under different names. Do you have a good pain doc or at least a supportive doc that will work with you?

Well, I'm starting to ramble and I hope soon we can get to know you a bit!

Try to have a decent nite my fellow pain pal,

Spruce

Welcome to the board you will find lots of support and tons of shoulders to cry on. If you have any questions I'm only a PM (Private Message) away.

As far as the medications it's different for everyone. I know that I have a script for paxil, zanaflex, Lyrica and ambien CR along with Loretabs, right now I'm unable to get a good portion of the stuff since we don't have health insurance right now. I'm able to get the Lortabs when we have the money.

Hello welcome Terri430 to our little family you will find lots of support and love here. I agree with Spruce I don't think you are actually takning anything for pain. You might wan tto ask your doc for some pain meds, not just ant-depressants. My doc gave me Prozac cuz its a new med they are trying for fibro,it helps with sleep but not pain. Looking forward to getting to know you.

I agree with everyone else. You need to ask for something for pain.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

For some reason, my doctor is against me being on numerous medications. I spoke with him today and he is setting up an appointment at a Lupus/Rheumatology office. He told me that he did not want me to go to a pain clinic until I have this appointment. I am at my wits end.

i am new here as well. i take 75mg of elavil @ night and 800mg ibprofen@ night. at one time my pain was very bad for 3 months straight i was on vicodin, toradol, morphone shots and ultram now i have bearable pain.at first the primary care dr thought i had serum sickness and put me on high potent steriods, decadron for 2months then predisone, which the rhematologist said a month later exacerbated the fibromyalgia. from what i read on the forums some others have alot more pain than i have currently. i also take nexium, enablex, elmiron, magox, glucosamine, cozaar and multiviatamin. i have had fibromyalgia for 3 years as well, as far as being diagnosed anyhow. i feel your frustration.luckily it only took 3 months to diagnose, however i have many things that come along with it.as far as ibs( i should buy stock in toilet paper...lol) interstitialcystitis, overactive bladder, etc.

good luck to you,i'm sure others will know more about multi pain pills then i.

hugs

Dee, some of those you mentioned I've never heard of. I'm learning someting new everyday!

What is enablea,elmiron,cozaar for?

When I was first dx back in '87 the stupid doc gave me predisone and that reall y made things worse. It caused me to gain weight, gave me High blod pressure and my Cholestral went sky high. I didn't know what was happening to me. I found out years later that that steriod predisone was the cause of all those symptoms. The doc didn't even know or care what the side affects were.

I think sometimes we become like guinea pigs for a lot of these meds that they sell to the docs.

When will they ever become informed???

Well, I'm done going on, don't want to bore you !

Wish I could help, but I'm dealing with the same thing. I've had fibro. for 7 years. I've tried accupunture (even tho I hate needles), cranio-sacral therapy, and various meds. I'm also very sensitive to meds. Right now I've just switched off everything to Cymbalta and I'm hoping for some relief. I also take tylenol p.m. at night. My doc. has said that if the Cymbalta doesn't work well for me, we'll try Lyrica, but she would rather not as it does have many side effects associated with it. Hang in there!
