hello everyone i am a 27 year old working female with a husband and two small girls, ages 6 and 4. i have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for about a year now and undifferiented connective tissue disease and high blood pressure for four years.. i have been in pain for 4 years. after 4 doctors i feel like i have prayed and found a doctor who would at least take me serious. i am in so much pain i am about to loose my mind. my doctor got me on a trial and error basic. he is giving me different medicines to see which ones work on me. i am on plaquenil for the connective tissue disease, cymbalta, neurotin, and flexiril for fibro; and benicar for blood pressure. i had a doctor's appt. yesterday and my doctor took me off of lyrica which was no help and put me on neurotin. he gave shot of selestor which is cortiroid shot, no help at all. i am so frustrated and in pain i dont know what to do. my job at times can be stressful and my home life can be stressful. my biggest complaint about my fibro is muscle pain, fatigue, brain fog, and migranes. i need something for pain, tramadol absolutely does not work. please help!

Hello and welcome,

this is a great site, you can learn a lot and vent. We all feel your pain(literaly...lol I really don't take much pain meds, most of them get me sick. Have you tried Avenza? I think its morphine based...works pretty good. Not too long ago my doc gave me Provigal, I only take half at a time. Its great!!It keeps me awake during the day without feeling wired, and help me focus.Other than That, I spend my life in water..my pool is heated in summer, I have a jacuzzi, swim at the gym, and take MANY baths in eptston salt. I also use aspercream...and when things are real bad (like right now) I have a couple of drinks...lol

Whatever it takes...I know it is hard with work and young kids...but sometimes being busy is better. Myself, I barely work and my son is grown,I have WAY too much time to think about my pain.

Good Luck....Theresa

Hey Hon,

Welcome! I know how you feel as I suffer from pretty much all of the things that you mentioned. There is hope out there. i have not yet found a way to be out of pain and the lyrica didn't work for me either but the cymbalta does help and I stalk up on tylenol pm to help me get through the night. What dose of cymbalta do you take? I take 60 and that seems to be the best for me and for my sister. I have fibro and she has bipolar/depression. Well good luck! I hope to see you around and get to know you. If you need anything or have any questions, feel free to ask.

Lots of love and prayers,

soopergirl

welcome fibro08 I know how frustrated your feeling. Unfortunately it is a trial and error until your dr. is abkle to come up with the right combination for you. Everybody is so different in what works for them. I'm like tippy can't do alot of pain meds. the Lyrica has helped me though. You will see alot of people here who couldn't take Lyrica but the neurontin did help them. So lets hope that it will work for you. Please feel free to vent your frustrations here anytime you need. we all have our days and need to let it out.

Welcome to this wonderful group of people. I can say this group has helped me in so many ways. Everyone knows how we all feel and you say anything and we all completly understand where you are coming from. It is hard to get that right combo of medications. I can say that I still haven't found that right combo and without insurance I won't be able to until we get insurance again.

I have learned so much since finding this forum and it gives me a reason to be around because I know everyone knows how I feel and I can learn something new everyday.

Hello Fibro08 welcome to a wonderful group of people. We all understand your frustration and pain. You can vent about anything here and ask questions of any of us.

I take piroxicam for pain and swelling as well as Neurontin that along with a Vicodin or Valium seem to work most days. My kids tease me about my "stash"

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

First ofr all welcome to the site. It is a great site to learn from. My daughter kids me about the tv commercials that say all we need is Lyrica and we can do anything. We can run on the beach and walk around and have a great day with our husbands. Also Aleve they say will help the pain. WRONG. This is a pain that no one can understand that doesn't have it. I have tried Lyrica and neurontin and neither did anything for me, the Lyrica made my lips swell til I looked like Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately it is trial and error to find what works for you. I am currently on percocet, flexiril, nortryptilene (sp?), mobic for arthrits, tylenol sometimes for small pain, and sometimes even all that doesn't help. I don't know if there is anything that takes away all the pain all the time. I have also been taking tylenol PM to help me sleep. So just hangin there to get the dosage and combination you need. Don't get me wrong, I have good days and bad days and I thoroughly enjoy the good days. I don't have pain free days but what I call pain LESS days. Keep talking to your doc. to let him know what works and what doesn't . My doc. is afraid I will get addicted to pain meds. so he doesn't prescribe anything until he knows for sure what I am on isn't helping. Also I take my husband to the appointments with me to tell the doc. things I may forget to mention. He can also let the dr. know I am not abusing my pain meds which helps him to know I am not there just for stronger meds.

This is good spot to learn more about fibro and at the same time vent some of your frusterations about docs. and life in general. Jan

I would like to say welcome to all new members. I've been caught up in my own little life for a few days, so I have been a little remiss on the welcomes. But you have all come to the right place, as the others have said. We're glad to have you.
