Hi everyone I'm new here. I am a 33 yr. old full time working mom and wife living in Massachusetts. I was just recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The only thing I know about it so far is what I have read on the internet, and what my doctor has discussed with my, and the information she has given me. I'm not new to the pain however...been living with pain for a very long time, I am just too busy to stop and let it get to me. I just load up on motrin and try to keep going. But it seemed that lately I was begining to be in more and more pain. My knees and my hips, my elbows, and my back and neck...it was everywhere...

I talked to my doc who initially last year was thinking I had the start of arthritis...asked me a bunch more questions....and since she knows me so well by now it turns out I seem to fit a lot of the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

So I found this support group and I joined because I need all the support I can get, my husband will NEVER get it, and my kids well they are kids...I haven't told any friends yet. None of them even know that I was lving in pain to begin with. My own husband didn't even know how bad it was. I am the strong one in the house the one who takes care of everyone.

I am a control freak...an I admit it, but thats how things get accomplished. We have 7 kids, we need organization...you know? I just can't let this thing get me.

I feel like the pain is worse over the past year...am I right? From what I have read it's not a progressive disorder.

I know this is long I'm sorry I just have a lot of questions, and emotions I guess that I haven't even begun to let myself think about. I will ask them another time...

Thanks in advance for listening.. I look forward to all your words of wisdom!

Welcome, I am also new to this group and i have found so much support already and have learned so much already. Since I have been diagnosed I have had more flare ups and there are days where I just don't want to get out of bed. I'm not so sure that this disease isn't progressive because I hvae noticed a lot of people who get worse as time goes on. I just don't think there is enough research done on it at this point.

Hi BeachBum, I am new to the group too. I was absolutly amazed at the support I have gotten today. I know what you mean by being too busy to think about the pain. I have been living with this for about 16 yrs and until recently I have been able to push the pain aside. Lately it is like the fibro is saying "Hello I'm still here" and won't let me push it aside.

I am a single mom with 3 kids so I bow down to you being able to handle 7 through all of this.

I pray you find something to help. From what I can tell this group is here to listen to anything you need to get off your chest.

Hello beach bum and welcome to the group. I am amazed that you can get through even one day of this with 7 children. I have 4 teens and 1 tiny grandson and somedays just want to sleep all day.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Welcome home beachbum. Feel free to be yourself here, good days or bad, let it all out. You won't find anyone here that will fault you, we're all living the same darn thing. I too am not so sure it's not progressive, I have had symptoms for years, but since I didn't know what was wrong, and didn't want to be labeled a whiner, I just sucked it up, pulled up my big girl pants and got things done. Then a few months ago I had a flare and it just never got better. I literally went to the doctor that very day with my husband in tow crying my eyes out from the pain.

So, on that note, not progressive my lil pixie bum! Yeah, that's what I think about it. I've come to find that you just can't rely on all of the conventional wisdom on this one, it hasn't been "real" to the medical community for long enough. Oh and the research on fibro doesn't ammount to a hill o' beans. So just like everyone else we are learning as we go. We're just learning the hard way.

When you feel overwealmed, and you will, give us a shout, it won't take long and you'll have more support and hugs than you know what to do with.

Again, welcome to the community *pixie hugs*
