MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I have high blood pressure, had it for several years. I take daily med for it but its still not stable. The more pain i'm in the higher it goes. i can't seem to get the doctors to understand. they all seem very concerned but no one really does anything. it runs 155/105 or higher. it goes up and down but the down numbers are still too high. I've been dealing with that for the past several days. i've had a bad headache for days and dizzy and feel weird.

i guess you can tell i'm venting but i'm actually scared that i'm gonna have a stroke or something. I'm normal weight, eat pretty healthy, i don't feel like i'm someone who should have high blood pressure. my mom has it but she doesn't take care of herself at all.

anybody got any advice, i really need some.

Coffee,

Have you been to the doctors this week? I'm sorry I don't have that problem, but if I did my doctor would have me in the hospital right away I think. Have they tried adjusting your meds? Please call your doctor again, that 105 bottom number doesn't sound good. Maybe they will give you something to relax you for when your pain level is real high.

Please let us know how you make out.

Joanne

Actually you don't have to be out of shape to have high BP, sometimes it's genetics. I'm on the other end, seriously low, all they ever tell me is add more salt to my diet. My kids have been threatening for years to get me my own salt lick.

Seriously though, it's just like anything else, if the doctors don't listen what do you do? Research and then find someone who will do something about it. Last I knew high BP is fairly serious, maybe you should call your Dr. and ask him/her to explain why they haven't treated this, and make sure you let them know that you don't feel right. Either way you'll have an answer, a good reason not to treat or a treatment, I wouldn't settle for less. Of course I'm sure I don't have to tell you to be nice, but firm. There's always time to be not so nice later if you really have to.

I hope you feel better soon, and please vent away...I've been doing it since I got here and no one has yelled at me yet

thanks. I always feel guilty for venting, gotta work on that. I'm seeing my regular doctor next week, he has been supportive and does believe fibro is real. I'll have to thank my dear ole mom for the high blood pressure. My bp has been much higher than it is now. sometimes it's 165/112 or higher. i've called the doctor before but they don't seem to take it seriously. I hate to think about finding another doctor but i read all this stuff about how dangerous it can be, which makes me worry and that makes my bp go even higher. it's like a snow ball effect.

do you guys think this is just genitics or the extreme level of pain i live with or both or what?

i really don't know what to do. this has been going on for years.

Nothing is ever simple, i would say it's a combination of several factors, seems the important things always are. I would NOT wait until my appointment if I were you, I would call about it today. If the doctor is busy, and I think you know how that goes, then ask to speak with a nurse. But talk to someone, I think that will help put your mind at ease at least. You shouldn't have to worry about this, it really isn't good for you.

Let us know?

coffee,

I agree with Pixie, probably a combo of things. Please call your doctors office today, I'm not a medical professional but by no means do I think it should be that high. Do you check ur BP at home? I don't always trust those electronics ones, plus you have to make sure your arm is in the correct position. (my dad has one of those home one's because his runs low.

Let us know what the doc or nurse says - okay?

Coffee...you're right to be concerned about your high BP. Like pixie, mine is always low...and I mean looooooooooooow...as in 90/55 low! And, all of my docs make comments on it...but they aren't concerned. Jeesh, no wonder I can't walk!

About the high though...it is dangerous and you should try to research and get into the doc...JUST FOR THAT! Don't talk to them about anything but that...then you can get an answer about it!

In the meantime, try to keep yourself cool, calm and collect. (My Acupuncturist says that).

I am a C.N.A. but haven't worked in the field for some time now. I do know that when I DID...and did vital signs every day at the beginning of my shift as well as right at the end of it...a blood pressure high, like yours, didn't make the nurse or doc on duty flinch. I'm not saying it's okay or good, I'm just saying that I've seen this many a' time and maybe it's just you. Like you said, your mom has it too.

So, please do talk to your doc about it. GO IN FOR THAT REASON ONLY...then well...they won't talk about ANYTHING BUT THAT and you'll finally get some answers!

Good luck, let us know!!

Good Morning coffee; Like the others I think you better get in to see the Doc. High bld. Prs. is nothing to clown around with. I have high bld. Prs. also. They finall had to add statins to control mine. The wy I was explained it can effect your other vital organs in the long run.

Sorry to hear about your high BP.

I have high BP. I didn't until the Fibro was diagnosed. Therefore, I feel that it's the stress from it that's giving me the high BP (I don't really know though.)

I am on a low dose of high BP medicine. And it does go up when I'm in more pain than normal. My doctor is "very" concerned though. I'm surprised yours isn't! I would watch it closely and keep addressing it. If you need to, call and talk to the nurse and emphasize your concern about it. Maybe he/she would talk to the doctor, the nurses surely don't think it's normal to be that high.

Keep us informed. Take care!!!
