I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after years of horrid pain and other issues. This past March, my Rheumatologist put me on 50mg of Lyrica since he had 23 pstients who had some success with the reductin of pain and little side effects. By May, he took me off because of severe blurred vision. He decided to wait until Sept. to reintroduce it, at a lower dosage. I have now been on the 25mg dosage and have had severe ankle and foot swelling, some blurred vision, depression, mood swings, bloating but thankfully no actual weight gain, dry mouth, skin and hair and even some breathing issues just to mention a few. At this point I am ready to just give up on the Lyrica. I am curious if anyone has had much success, with or without side effects and whether they feel it is worth it in the long run.

Hi truesdall,

Welcome to our group !!!

I have been on 75mg Lyrica twice daily since this past May. It does help with the pain but I am also noticing a couple of other side effects.

The first (and worst as far as I m concerned) has been weight gain (I want to eat all the time).

Second is my mind ... I can t remember from the time I go to work until I get off , what errand I was going to run after work , if I don t jot it down.

Another is minor swelling in one ankle (right) but not every day ...maybe twice a week.

I have been taking Lyrica for a few weeks and I am currently taking 75mg in the am and 75mg at night. I feel out of like I am walking outside my body. My pain went the second day from a 9 to an 8 how ever I am back up to a 9. I have noticed myself being bloated and irritable. As if the pain was not enough to be grouchy.

I feel bad for our Husbands those who are married. I know mine gets a mouth full of moodiness quite often. The main thing is you need to tell your doc how you want to give up and tell her your side effects so they can best help you.

Hi truesdall and welcome to our fibro family. I don't take Lyrica because it would interfere with some other drugs that I'm taking. I hope that your doctor finds a med that is suitable for you to take for your fibro.

Hi there, I have been on Lyrica for several months now, i take 150mg 3 times a day. I am on alot of different meds so its hard to tell sometimes which one causes what. over all the Lyrica has been a Godsend for me. Due to a prescription foul up I went a week without, and now that I am back on I have to say I am doing better. i do still have pain. but its much more tolerable... praise the Lord! I dont have as much brain fog...I am hopeful!Cheerful

truesdall..

Hi I was on Lyrica for about 8 months or more, along with Cymbalta, and Mobic(since I was eating motrin like candy!

all together they really did work for after I got over the side effects, they were horrible at the start! blurry vision, being dizzy, I have no memory left, and of course the great weight gain, In one year I gained 25 pounds!!

I tryed everything to watch and walk nothing would help...

so took a chance and ask the doc to take me off lyrica and put me on Gabapentin,

first month I lost 9 pounds!now I did get a new treadmill so every other day I did 2 miles or at least 45 minutes,

now with the holiday and so much to do and never enough time im slacking some but keeping it stable,

Jan 1st gonna really start to work harder,

but with the switch i have to see how things work started out with 900 mlgs a day now already up 1800 in month 2 so you have to wait it out to see what you need,

the thing about taking this is you can take a much higher dose if you need, so I may need more I may not, but as of now Im doing ok ,

I was taking 150 mlgs of Lyrica 3 times a day.

so far so good.. nothing ever works as fast as you want,

wish you luck In what you choose to do,but you might want to talk to your doc about switching if the wieght gain Is a big problem,

with me gain weight and everything else starts to act up, blood pressure, and then you just dont feel good, i know I feel great after i walk..

Happy holidays!

Jamie Smile

My Doctor started me out on 50 mg. of Lyrica once a day and over the past 7 months has increased the dosage to 150. mg, twice a day. I do have mild light headedness and dry mouth and dizziness but those side affects are listd for all the meds I take. Like someone else said I had to go 10 days without it and boy what a difference. For me it's been a godsend.

I have been on Lyrica for a few weeks at a much smaller dose then anyone else. I can't tell if the weight gain is from Lyrica or from being stranded at home because of the snow. I want to eat all day! Other then that I had a reduction in nerve pain in my back for a couple of days but then it came back. So I couldn't tell you good or bad at this point. Sorry Smile
