Hi!

I joined the Lyme group a few months ago and have found it so helpful to me.

I was diagnosed with FMS before Lyme and was convinced after almost a year of abx, that FMS was what I was left to deal with for the rest of my life.

I moved on with my life as best I could. I was awarded(strange term, IMO... LOL) disability at age 25 in 1999 retroactive 4 years to 1995 for the time I lost getting shuffled around from doctor to doctor with no answers and alot of insults.

19 Months ago, I had a gorgeous baby girl but never really recovered from giving birth. I returned to my physician, who confirmed that either the Lyme became active again or I had a new infection. ??? Confusing I know!

I decided, today, to join this group as well because I saw some posts about Social Security. It just so happened they called me today to "update" my file. Funny to me how this happens to coincide with my treatment costs mounting again...

Whistling

Anyway, I thought that maybe I could also benefit from this group and be of benefit to the group as well.

My mom also shares a FMS and MS diagnosis and eventually, I'd like to see her join me here as well.

I don't know how I've managed this long without MDjunction. I really appreciate the diverse opinions and nurturing environment.

Thanks to all for reading...it's a pleasure to make your aquaintance!

HI DHARMA!! Welcome to the group. We are just one big happy Fibro family here and I am sure everyone would agree that we are glad you are here.

I am so very sorry that you are dealing with this...Lyme plus Fibro plus new baby - makes my mind boggle just thinking about it.

Anyways....so glad you're here. Send your mom our way as well.

Hi dharma and welcome to our fibro family. I'm currently trying for SSDI. Been denied 4 times now and I'm currently waiting for the hearing date to be granted.

Dharma!! My dear, so good to see you over here, too! Hugs from me, to you.

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Something has changed within me/Something is not the same/I'm through with playing by/The rules of someone else's game/Too late for second-guessing/Too late to go back to sleep/It's time to trust my instincts/Close my eyes and leap...I'm through accepting limits/Cuz someone says they're so/Some things I can not change/But till I try I'll never know/Too long I've been afraid of/Losing love I guess I lost/Well if that's love/It comes at much too high a cost/I'd sooner buy Defying Gravity/Kiss me good-bye I'm Defying Gravity/I think I'll try Defying Gravity/And you won't bring me down...

Thank you for the warm welcome...and hello Fluffy!

Janilee-

I fought hard to get SSDI. I did have to use a lawyer and I had a hearing also. I have had to go to their docs a few times over the years...psychiatrists included.

I think the most important thing to stress to them is how your ability to work and fend for yourself has been affected and be very detailed. Tell them ALL the horrible little details that we don't even really like to think about...make them understand that this was not an easy decision for you to make in the first place and that you have NO other options.

Best wishes to you...keep us posted. If there are any questions you may have for me, I'll do my best to answer! Smile

It took me over 3 years too receive my SSD.. with Dr's notes going back too 04 ,

I went to them with a Crushed T-6 Vertbrae, Degenerative disc, spiinal cord, and fusion on my neck C4-6, without the Fibro...

I went through Binder & Binder.. In My Opioion They were not that Great..

My Friend that Bascially had the same thing as I did from a MVA in 98 my was 2000. He went right in and received his SSD in 7 mos... In 07 Right after he received his disability.

He couldn't cope with the pain and Family issues .They found him dead in his house after a fire...

Thanks for your reply dharma. I wrote an 8 page letter with my appeal on this latest claim explaining to them how the whole thing affected my working and how I ended up getting fired because of it. How it affects my work here at home and my ability to remember. They came back with a denial and told me that I can do sedentary work with lots of breaks with no lifting and occasional fingering. I can't multitask because of the memory thing going on.

Any advice you can give will be more than welcome.
