I had suspected for some time that I had FM, but after I had an injury in March things got a lot worse. I was kicked by a horse, became airborn for a short time, and landed very badly. I came down on my feet on a patch of ice and my knee dislocated. I tore the ACL, PCL, MCL a quad muscle and a tendon. At the emergency room they kept asking why I wasn't screaming from the pain. Well, when you live in pain, you figure out screaming doesn't help!

I was very fortunate to have one of the country's best surgeons (living in a ski area has it's perks) and he was able to repair damage and I was walking on my own steam again by July. Then I started having pain in my hips, back, neck,...you get the idea. I had always had a lot of neck and shoulder pain but this was out of this world!!! Then came the "official" FM diagnosis.

So, after telling you my life story, has anyone else noticed an increase in symptoms after a trauma? My family are all trying to be understanding but I think they all wish I would "get over it".

hi misfitmustangs welcome to our home. Yes trauma and stress are two things that can cause an increase in symptoms. A couple years ago I was in a minor car accident two weeks later I ended up in the hospital not because of injuries from the accident but because I had such a flare up it was causing chest pain and tightness. As first I thought it was my asthma flaring up as I was in the emergency room having difficulty breathing I tried to explain the heaviness in my chest. Next thing I knew I was being admitted for cardiac observation. but when all was said and done they decided it was the fibro
