It's been a while since I have been on this site. I have really missed you guys! My hearing was 5/9/08. I was declined for SSI. I am more than disappointed. I thought for sure I would get it. Here are my mistakes. Hopefully they will help you not to make them. 1)I worked at Lowes. Big NO!NO! I worked because I had no choice. We were losing everything and would soon be homeless. No exaggeration! Circumstances do not matter to SSI. It only proved that with the proper "incentive" I could do a job no matter my physical condition. I also kept my condition hidden from Lowes as long as I could, 9mo. before I just couldn't hide it any more. So, Lowes said I did my job without physical limitations. I would not have kept my job if I had told them about my Fibro. All help is seasonal until hired in, odds 1 in 100. I got hired in part time. Hurt my case even more. 2)Doctors! No insurace meant no visits on a regular basis. So, I could not share with my DR. how I was on a decline. She had no idea how badly I was doing. Ultram was not working anymore or at least it only took the edge off the pain. I did not complain enough!! Do not be afraid to tell your DR. how you really REALLY feel I was afraid to let people know I was different. DUMB! We are different and we hurt. You don't have to go broadcast it to the world, but do not be afraid of people finding out. When people ask, I just say "Not a good day" or "Thanks, I'm having a bad day". Since, I have educated them on what its like they understand without me saying how it was a challenge to get out of bed, and I ache from head to toe,... Know what I mean? Oh, And I educate anyone I can. 3)If you can do any chores at home, You can kiss SSI goodbye! I told them how difficult it was to do chores, but,I still did them even if I had to rest in between. If you have sombody that can do your chores, it shows you are really not able.Wish I could afford to hire a maid. Oh,wait, they said that I could still clean houses! NOT! Only in my dreams! Finally, 4) Documentation! My Doctors were from 2 years ago. It took 2+ years to get a hearing. Try to stay current. They had no clue how bad I was doing and "communicating" with your Doc is essential! I found out through my lawyer that my regular Dr. said "If patient had told me she was going for SSI, I would have sent her for testing to determine her physical limitations." Newsflash! Huh? Again 2 years ago she said all she needed to do was take good notes. Like I said, not enough complaing about aches and pains so she said I was doing fine. I felt like I had been stabbed in the chest. So, in summary, if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them I want to make sure that you don't make my mistakes! In closing, I cannot appeal. Why? I worked! Go figure! I hope this helps you!

thanks for the tip Tina. First claim that was denied on me was because I was looking for work. Second claim which I'm on now I put down that I am not looking for work. I'm still in the reconsideration mode of this appeal. I did get Allsup involved though. Hopefully they will be of some help to me.

Thanks Tina for your tips, hopefully they will help. I have an application in with them right now. My first claim. Sorry they turned you down, they don't care about the day to day realities of life. Hopw your life is getting better and you have been able to find a way of making a living that doesn't make the pain worse.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
