Hi everyone I am wondering, how do you deal with all the pain? I have good days but more often the bad take over the good.I do not get on to talk to much because setting at the computer makes the neck and shoulder pain worse.

Hi! It is very hard to be in pain all the time! I take an anti-depressant to help my mood. I know that helps me deal with it better. I understand about having bad days and sometimes you don't want to move. Try moist heat that gives temporary relief. Are you taking any medicine now?

Hi Wendy...I had neck surgery with a fusion so I know how hard that pain is. I agree with all that Lauren said. I also love taking a hot bubble baths. I also can't sit at a computer at all, so I got a laptop. IT'S GREAT!Before I got it I felt so isolated and alone. Now I get on this site and get to talk to some amazing smart people with grat advice who honestly knows what I'm going through. It's also been great to research more info on fibro and degenerative disc disease. I still have bad days, but at least I don't feel so alone anymore. Hope this helps.......

We all have are ups and downs. Try your best to do things in moderation so you don't push too much at once. Use your pain meds and muscle relaxers (if your Dr. is kind enough to give them) as needed don't wait until it gets so bad you can't stand it before taking them. Of course I'm really one to give that advice because that is what I do I wait too long. Hot baths are great and heating pads help too. Good luck

I've found a heating pad to be my new best friend these past few days. I don't know what it is about it, but it's relieving for certain places. I like to use it on my neck and and shoulder area. That's a place where no matter what I take, that part of my body never really becomes comfortable without some heat. I guess that would be similar to a long hot shower or bath.

I have to sit at a computer all day, so that's where we are alike. I do at work, then I'm a full-time online student, so I have to come straight home and do assignments and tests.

Hi everyone thank you for all the good advise. It is real nice to come on this site and talk to people who understand. Yes I am on meds but I am one who does not take them unless i have to. I read all the feed back and answers that you send it is real nice to hear I am not alone in all the crazy symptoms.

Hello all

It is nice to know that I am not going crazy, and others experience what I do.

I get sooo mad at myself, and my situation. I keep telling my husband that I want to be normal, and he asks , what is normal? I say, days without pain or brain fog, and not feeling like having been run over by a truck.

I too am someone who only takes medications when I really have to, what I also wish is that I had a dr I could really talk to.

Thanks for letting me vent

I suppose I have been a little shy to post.

I experience the neck, shoulder and headache pain all the time. I have had x-ray taken, now he wants me to use a cervical pillow. Does it help? Guess it couldn't be worse huh? The tingling and numbness is not fun either.

I'm kinda....is scared the right word, to use a lot of meds, but, I have been prescribed anti-depressants, and anti-inflammatories, and things to help me sleep.....but, I don't take them. Can someome tell me, I would love to hear from someone who actually knows what I am going through, not just my doctor, who is the most unfeeling person I have ever met, if these will actually help, and will I have some better days, or at least, some better moments?

Thank you

DoDo

You said you had x-rays but you didn't say what the results were. If the pain and numbness ect are from a pinched nerve or arthritic changes in the neck then anti-inflammatories should help. Some people do get relieve from some of their fibro pain with them as well but not everyone. They are not addicting medications and may only be needed temporarily. The anti depressents and sleep meds are common used in fibro as well. Depending on what antidepressant he prescribed some of them help to raise seratonin levels which is helpful in fibro paitents. they are usually long term daily medications. some can also help with the pain. I have had good luck with Paxil CR. i was unable to take the ones that would help with pain like cymbalta. Everyone is different and it may take time to find what one will work best for you. I don't use a "sleeping" med. I was given Flexaril to use at bedtime. I am very sensitive and more times than not don't use it. Again everyone is different but good sleep definately can improve your symptoms. I hope this has been helpful. Don't be shy we are all understanding. the more we all share with each other the more we learn and the more we find out we are not just crazy as some people, dr's included, may make us feel
