[i]Hello everyone! My name is Pam. I am 39 yrs old. I have 2 wonderful daughters, a 14yr old still at home and a 20 yr old about to celebrate her first wedding anniversary. My hubby & I have been together for 18 yrs, married for 15 of them yrs.

I was diagnosed back in 2000 with Fibro. My 2 older sisters also have been diagnosed and suffer worse then I do.

However, back in 2002, I had an awful auto accident that almost killed me. I had hit a telephone pole head-on, I was DUI, but learned an easy lesson hardest possible way! I suffered a compound fracture to my right fibia, which is now the home of a rod and 3 screws. My cheeks were smashed and my upper jaw completely broken. My face now houses 3 plates.

Since then the pain throughout my body has worsen.

It's now almost 6yrs since my accident and I know the pain has not maxed out yet. I fear as I age more and more, so the pain will daily increase.

I use to take Flexril at night to help me sleep, however, I can't take it every night or even the full dosage because I am a zombie the entire next day. So I just suffer most days till I can't stand it no more and take a pill and sleep through the pain.

Is there any hope for a more functioning life?

There is always hope, I am sorry to hear about your accident and the pain it causes you. Do you take anything for the pain? There are a lot of different ways to deal with it,I treat like an unwelcome house guest. There are several really good posts on here that might help you. You can have a functioning life, just different than what you used to have. I go to school, and volunteer at a thrift shop where the proceeds help support various charities. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk, and welcome to the group.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Hello & welcome. Wow, I can not imagine being in an accidentl like you had. I have a very strong fear of being in one. I'm afaird if I had one as serious as yours, I would be too scared to drive again.

Have you brought it up to your docotor that the Flexril makes you so groggy. Ask him if there isn't something else you can take. And tell him about the pain you are in.

I lead a fairily functional life, in my opinion. I work 40+ hours a week for an accounting firm. I sit all day, which can be hard, and do all the data entry for the CPAs. I have 4 ornery grandsons that I get out and play ball with. I mow the lawn, I suffer later, but I do it. I pretty much do whatever, I just try to pace myself. Oh I don't do laundry. DH for some odd reason, loves to do the laundry. I seperate it out more than he does, but whatever makes him, is fine with me!!

Be wise and dignified like the swan: he maintains his composure, staying unruffled on the surface, while always paddling like crazy underneath.

Welcome to our online family! Glad you found us.

Yes, there is hope. It was extremely difficult for me to realize that only 4 months ago, but I'm able to work part-time and perform normaly daily functions now. Thankfully I found the right meds for my symptoms. I still have pain, but it's minimal for the most part. I have to exercise as much as possible, take my meds, and avoid certain activities.

Do you see a rheumatologist? You should find a good doctor that understands fibro, and they'll work with you until you find the right meds for you. I know it's very difficult, but try to do some light exercise periodically throughout the day. The pain increases when you sit all day.

May God heal your body and soul.
May your pain cease,
May your strength increase,
May your fears be released,
May blessings, love, and joy surround you.

[i]Thanks for all the nice welcomes!

I do have my annual physical coming up in Sept. and will discuss more with my doc about the pain and always being tired.

I do function each day as I can, just some days are so much harder than others.

I use to be a member at Curves and worked out 3 days a week, but as with any activity I do, I suffer afterwards. I have learned from my older sisters not to sit or lay around so much, but sometimes I just can't stay upright.

I will ask my doc to recommend a good rheumatologist who understands Fibro.

Thanks again for the welcomes!

Pam
