Hi. I'm Kristen. Just actually got diagnosed with FMS yesterday...and wanted to find some people going through the same thing as me! Don't know much about FMS yet so any information I can be pointed to will help. Going to browse through the other posts and things like that. Glad to finally figure out when the heck is wrong with me...was driving me crazy...was starting to think I was just going nuts. And my college told me I'm a hypocondriac....(can't spell that). But I'm 21 and have a 2 year old daughter. Been having problems as long as I can remember (with my back and headaches)...and only recently the wide spread pain started....followed by everything else...

Was wonding what kind of job can you hold with FMS? What do you all do? And anyone in Southern Minnesota on here?

Welcome to the group, I too am kinda new and new to fibro. This is a great place to be. The people here have so much information and can tell you were to go to get more. If you have question just ask and they will help you out. I have to work full time, I carry the health insurance for my husband and son and I would be in trouble with out it. I am a 911 dispatcher in Mass. I am lucky because I sit but I can also get up and walk around when I have too. I live in a small town so we do not have a lot going on all the time.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia yesterday... I am 39 years old and I work as an X-ray tech. at a nearby hospital.. I live in Racine, Wisconsin. I work in the healthcare field I even I don't know much about it. I have been "googling" alot to get info. I am only able to work part time now. I have 3 kids. I am going back to college for Computed Tomography (Cat Scan..CT) so I can sit at my job a little more. X-ray is just too physical a job for me now..

I am newish to the site, and was diagnosed in about March or so. Still, I feel incredibly new to fibro. One thing I've found incredibly helpful is a book called "Fibromyalgia: The First Year" by Claudia Craig Marek. So many things make so much more sense after reading... I'm not 100% through it, but what I've read so far makes it worth buying.

I actually work in an office... I'm a data analyst at a Financial Consulting firm in New Hampshire. I sit almost all day, but I'm able to get up and move around when I need to.

I can honestly say that I didn't do much in the way of finding out what Fibromyalgia was after I was diagnosed... before I was diagnosed, I did a bit of researching, but nothing way out there. I just wanted to know if it sounded like my symptoms.

Good luck to all of you, it's definitely not an easy journey. Yeah, it's great having a diagnosis, to know you're not a hypochondriac, to know that it's not all in your head, to know that there are more people out there that are going through what you are... but still, it's overwhelming. Good luck.

Kristin

I may have fibromyalgia, but fibromyalgia is not me.

Hi! I am new to this site as well. I found this website helpful. It answers a lot of those "i think this is stupid" questions. http://fibromyalgia.lifetips.com/

I am in the medical profession as well. I am an RN, but I am on short term disability right now. I always tell my pts that there is no question that is "stupid". I found that the one thing that has helped me is knowing that I am not alone.

Welcome to our group! This forum is such a blessing and I know you'll find valuable information that will help you in your search for an effective treatment.

As you will see, each member has varied degrees of symptoms and treatments that work for them. I currently take Mobic, Lyrica, Lexapro, and Temazepam (for sleep), but I'm going to talk to my doctor about Amitriptyline tomorrow.

I'm happy you joined our online FM family!

Welcome to the group. I work full time for an accounting firm. From Jan 1 through May is tax season so it it very trying. Accounting and fibro fog are NOT a good combination.

The only thing I am taking is 2 Aleve in the morning and 2 at night along with a Cymbalta.

Debi thanks for sharing the life tips site. the first tip I saw was the one where most people do not have the half moons on their nails, only on the thumbs. I have never had the half moon and have asked why and no one ever knew. Thanks!

I've had the 1/2 moons on my nails when i had a really awful long fibro flareup! Didn't know it was linked I just thought it was from being in a bad state of health for a long period.

I have huge half moons on my thumbs, then they get smaller until I get to my pinky fingers where I have no half moons at all. I've never noticed that before. That's a great tip site.
