Hi everybody. My name is Gloria. I have talked to my Dr about the pains I have, trouble sleeping, walking, getting up, and even wearing pants. Does anyone have any suggestions to help get a diagnosis?

I just repetitivli kept going in for all my problems and then they finally started looking at the big picture. Or you may need a new doc. It really sucks when you feel like you live at the doctor. I was starting to feel that way and I will again soon. Good luck.

Unfortunately,it took me probly about 12 yrs to find a good dr,that didn't think I was crazy....then my insurance was taken off of me,and I had to go thru looking for a decent dr all over again. I had to change drs alot too though! Its a shame to say, alot of drs just don't believe fibro exists. And one of my favorite drs told me once:"Oh don't worry, your not 'GOOFY ENOUGH' to have fibro, thats a disorder that 'mentally ill' people get"!Needless to say, that was my last visit seeing her!

I agree with Foxy, you must be persistant, and maybe even change drs, until you find a compassionate one that tries to understand what your going thru...and that will fight this disease right with you! They're out there, just gotta find them!

Wish you all the luck!~~warm gentle huggs~~JL

I am so scared that my husband will get tired of dealing with all my aches and pain...that he'll leave. Most of the time,I'm just either too tired or in too much pain for us to have alone time. What do you do about intimacy?

Gosh it is so hard to find a dr who does listen. I surely miss the doctor I had when I lived in NC. He was also my employer. So I got care every day if I needed it. He listened and he helped. He still does help me.

So far most of the docs I have been seeing lately seem cold and distant. They dont want to listen and just keep giving me pills that dont work.

Very frustrating,

I waited far too long to change doctors and once I did, I realized just how bad it really was.

You should search for a good doctor in your area that understands fibromyalgia, possibly a rheumatologist.

Hope you find some relief soon.

When i need to go to a new doctor - I call the office and ask if the doc believein fibro and does he know how to treat it. If he doesn't then I cancel my appt. Excuse the spelling - hands knotted up...kathy

I agree with all of these great ideas, I would also write in a journal daily how you slept, how you feel in the morning and all the things that you couldn't do or that hurt to do that day, . Then let the doc know that you wrote it down cuz you can't trust your memory.
May life always bring you laughter.

I am so sorry to hear about your lack of DX from your Dr. I was so fortunate that mine guessed FM before we started tests or even I believed it. FM is such an unsupported illness/symptom that if your DR. is not jumping on your DX right away-they never will. Call other DR. offices and ask if the Primary treats for FM. Their nurse will call you back and say-yes or no. When you find a great Primary, they will lead you to other specialist that can help manage your illness. For my particular needs I see an Endo 2x yr, Neurologist 2x yr, and I have a Rehabilitaion Dr that specializes in FM. What a differnce it makes. Good luck and keep us posted on your outcome!
