Hello behafamily,

Welcome to our group ~~~ we re glad to have you with us. Smile

I am sorry you have to endure so much pain due to Fibro. You have found a most supportive group here in that we all suffer that same pain with you.

Were you dx d and are you being treated by a PCP or a Rhuemy ?

I, too, take Lyrica (2 75mg at bedtime) and it has worked pretty well for me for about 3 years now. Once in a great while, I might also add a couple of Tylenol to that but not very often ~~~

My first complaint (within the first few days of taking Lyrica) was that I was tired AND sleepy all day long. At that point I was taking 1 pill in the morning and 1 at dinnertime. When I mentioned this to Rhuemy, he suggested taking them both at bedtime and that has worked well for me.

As for ""being tired all the time"", that may also be a sign of a thyroid problem . Have you had anyone check that recently ? It is as simple as a blood draw.

Actually, I complain more about being exhausted than I do pain and I DO know that I am Hypothyroid. Thyroid can be a real roller coaster as I m finding out recently.

Back to the Fibro pain, have you tried warm baths or heating pad ?

There will be others along to welcome you shortly and they will all tell you their little secrets of learning how to cope with Fibro pain also. Smile

Marilyn

Hi, behafamily & welcome to the site! This is a wonderful place for friendship & support.

Do you take anything for pain? I took lyrica for a very short time because the side effects I was having. I am taking neurontin, 900mg a day & lortab 10s for pain. The warm shower, bath helps, as does the heating pad. I try to do stretches, but find its getting more difficult to do.

One thing, I've found is being with someone that makes you laugh helps me tremendously. My niece has been staying with us for a cpl of months now. Before she moved in, the only adult company I had was my significant other, & he's been working a lot of hours & sleeps when he's not working. I have had side busting laughter with her, & I've noticed I've been feeling a lot better. It is the best medicine!

My views & suggestions are from my own experience or from research that I have conducted on my own. They ARE NOT to be used as a replacement for a professional opinion, so please take them as just that.

Hi and welcome to the group!

Lyrica made me tired and dizzy at first. That wore off after a couple of weeks, but then it started making my hands and feet swell, and when that happened it made the nerve pain worse. I just started Nuerontin a few weeks ago and while it makes me a little dizzy, so far no swelling. I also take an anti-dep and find I need more than a normal dose or the fibro monster kind of takes over my body and my emotions.

It usually takes us a while to get our meds all sorted out, then we still have to stay on top of things because we have strange reactions sometimes.

Glad you found us!

Welcome to the group =)

I have not taken Lyrica so I can't give any advice on it. Like the other ladies have said though, with all medications it takes awhile to get use to them. I hope it ends up working well for you!

Take care and hope to hear more from you soon.

Hey. I've been on lyrica. I think you should call your dr. Anytime depression worsens due to a med it means you need to go off it and try something else. In fact your patient insert will tell you to call the dr. There's other meds out there.

Hi and welcome to the group!

I agree with hatbox about calling the doctor about your depression worsening. That can be a side effect of certain meds and if your depression is getting worse it could be a side effect of the drug. It could also be just your depression worsening because of all the pain, but it is always best to have it checked out.

Looks like you got a lot of great advice here, so again I will just welcome you again. I hope to get to know you better.

Hugs~

Christine

Welcome to the family. You have come to a great place for support, caring people and very good listeners. I agree that you need to call your doctor. If he does not do anything, it's time for a new one. In fact it may be time for a new one anyway depending on if you like him and how willing he is to work with you to treat your fibro. Many of us suffered for a long time before finding the right doctor or med. Not that we still don't suffer or have bad days, but with the right elements in place, it can get better.

We are here for you to try and help you through. Please let us know how you are doing.

I am not a doctor and do not play one on these forums so please consult your physician for actual medical advice.

I'm being treated by my regular physician because he handles chronic pain..I'm taking 50mg of lycria 3 times a day and so far so good..I told my doctor too that I can handle the achyness of the fibro but I can't handle the extreme tirdness I'm experiencing..Yes I do have a dyfunctional thyroid and I was taking armour thyroid but the company can't keep up with the demand of the medication so he has me taking synthoid 125mcg one a day and I know it is my thyroid that is making me very tired..I told my doctor that my depression is worst because of the tirdness..so he took blood work and I'm suppose to find out any day now about the results..I'll let you know what happens...after you turn 40 every thing falls apart I swear...

Hi

I was diagnosed last month. Did your doc put you on Lyrica just for the pain? I also told my doc I could handle the pain but not the fatique and muscle weakness. Did he put you on Lyrica for fatigue? If not how will he treat the fatigue. My doc took blood work today. Did Lyrica cause you weight gain or any side effects? And please do let us know the results of your blood work.

Thanks for your help.
