I'm 53 years old and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for 11 years, although I definitely feel I've had it since I was about 22. December 2008, I had a total knee replacement. I am STILL going to physical therapy, attempting to get the knee back to the range of motion it had prior to the surgery. I've been released from PT three times, and I keep going back because the range my doctor says I should have, has not returned. At present, I am going every day. Does anyone know just how having fibro affect such surgeries? Has anyone else with fibro had a total knee replacement? If so, how did it go? Any suggestions for me? Thanking you in advance, D

Hi there D. Can't say I've had a knee replacement so I can't help with your questions but I certainly wanted to welcome you to the group! You will see pretty quickly that this group is very active and very caring. We are so happy to have you join us..

I do hope your knee starts getting better soon! I'm in and out all day long so I'm sure I'll see you on here soon!

Hi there. I know that Suebaby very recently had one of her knees done. She has a thread on the arthritis forum about her progress. I haven't had one done but you are more than welcome to check out the arthritis forum and look at her thread or leave a message for her. She's also on here too so hopefully she'll hop in. She's been having some trouble lately so I don't know if she'll be on here soon.

Hello Debbie,

Welcome to our group ~~~

I have never had knee, hip , etc. replacements but most people that I know that have, are doing well and glad they had it done (after it is all over, of course).

I don t think that Fibro affects any surgical procedures we might have but that the procedure aggravates our Fibro instead.

I had female repair surgery done in Dec. '06 and was off work for 8 weeks. My Fibro never even came into play during my recovery~~~ No flare or anything out of the ordinary (PTL).

We hope you ll post often so we may get to know you better ~~~

Marilyn

Welcome to the group. I am a newbie also. I know that if I have any sort of illness my body flares up so I am wondering if you having an injury and then it being off kilter fith fms is maybe not allowing your muscles and such to heal.Good luckTongue

I don't know about the knee thing, but there are a lot of folks on here who might. We take good care of each other here! Glad to have you aboard - Jeni

Hi Debbie and welcome to the group!

Fibro often follows some kind of trauma. Mine probably came from a car wreck in 1986. I was 29 then, I'm 52 now. I was dx'd in 2007. For years I was told all my problems were residual from the wreck. In my 40s they said it was peri-menopause. Finally I got a dx and I don't feel so alone, especially once I found this group.

This is the best group on the web. Everyone is kind and supportive whether you want to chat, vent, cry, laugh, whatever, you'll find someone who wants to do it with you Smile
