I'm waiting for an answer on my request for reconsideration (#2), I filed in March. I received a denial on my initial claim within about 1 month, so it seems the 2nd request takes longer. Good luck to you.

HI...I don't think there is any average time for a decision.... I waited about 4 months for my first and another 4 to 5 for my second..... and then they lost my app... so then I had to start all over...... I would get an attorney ....... then they can not just put you off....

Craig...

My gosh...4 to 5 months and they lost 1 of your claims?!?!?!? That is horrible.

I sent a letter to my senator and his office ended up calling the SS office to rush my initial claim. It helped with the 1st claim and I might follow-up with their office again if I don't receive an answer on my 2nd request soon.

The time probably varies based on the office, claim rep, etc. Hope luck is on our side.

well I am not waiting cause I finally get mine but there were months of waiting before a response. It took me over 3 yrs to finally get it. By then I was in so much dept and bad circumstances that its not enough. I found that if you have a diagnoses of a disability and need extra income that a rehabilitation service through your state will help. Yeah and paper work seems to be an issue with them. Just hang in there, I was denied at least 3 times then got a lawyer just to show up with me for the court date. Then I waited again for months on a response and then waited again and again. So there is a lot of waiting.
