I don't post often but do read when I can. I was diagnosed with fibro a few years ago now. I have a lot of the typical issues of fibro, muscle pain, fatigue, MFPS, etc. However, in the last couple months, I noted I have bilateral soreness & stiffness in the bottoms of my feet, hands, shoulders/upper back. It feels more like bone pain/arthritis but when I recently saw my Rheumy he just basically noted an increase in arthritis in finger joints of my hands & I didn't even mention the other aforementioned things as I just thought it was stiffness & soreness due to change in weather or possibly an increase in arthritis (He definitely doesn't seem to think I have RA, fortunately).

Anyway, since my discomfort, pain, soreness is bilaterally, is continuing & not getting better yet, could this be considered to be fibro related? It is definitely a new symptom/sensation for me. It doesn't feel at all like the typical muscle aching I am so use to but since it is bilaterally it make me lean more toward fibro symptoms. I thought perhaps some of you may have experienced these symptoms as well with fibro.

Thanks so very much.

Hi FightN and welcome!

Yeah, unfortunately that does sound like fibromyalgia. We get weird pains all over and the sore feet in the morning seems to hit us all and is one of the few symptoms most members seem to have. When I get out of bed the first few steps are agony, the walk to the bathroom and then into the kitchen. My feet usually relax about the time I start the coffee. It feels to me like the skin has shrunk on my feet and the bones are trying to poke through from the inside out.

Well, I'm glad you found us and glad you've decided to participate!

Sorry for your diagnosis and your pain, but I'm glad to meet you!

Thank you so much for the kind reply. I was afraid the answer would be that, yes, it is most likely fibro. Laughing I have a tendency to blame so much on fibro I am in fear I may miss something really important someday. This is a new symptom for me (strange when so many of you already suffer from it). Do any of you get this same type of thing in your hands and upper back/shoulders too? Mine seems to stay with me all the time since it started a couple months ago, although it does get better as the day goes on but it never fully goes away. It literally makes me sore. I feel like I have worked out (Ha! Like that will ever happen - at least not like I use to could do) or been beaten with a cane or something. Laughing

FightN,

Yes, what you describe could very well be Fibro related. When my worst symptoms began to appear, walking first thing in the morning or after I had been sitting for a length of time, my feet protested terribly.

I still get spasms and muscle knots in them from time to time.

I agree with you that we tend to blame Fibro for any new ache or pain but I usually will let something new ride for a few days to see what happens. If it doesn t go away, depending on the severity, I ll either see my PCP/Rhuemy or make a note of it to discuss at my next appt.

Marilyn

Right before I was finally first diagnosed, I felt like my family doc was beginning to think I was a hypochondriac (AKA nuts-LOL) with all the varied symptoms & all the visits I made. Silly Now, I am like you, I just let many things go unless they are super painful or concerning or I know it could possibly be something else, then I see the doc.

My rheumy is good but doesn't have much of a personality & seems to be always rushed - well, he has to be as he is the only one around in about a 25 mile radius. I am grateful to him though as he is the one who finally diagnosed me & that right there is a big relief to KNOW what is wrong with you. At least you have something to work with, albeit, not anything you can do to "cure" it but you learn ways to deal with it. Just a long process to adjust which I really think is nonending as things change sometimes from minute to minute - as I know you all know all too well. Sad

These aches and pains could very well be fibro, in fact it sounds like it. Just keep in mind as mentioned above that you should always note and keep track of new symptoms, don't be afraid to let your doctor know. Is it time for labs? My RA labs came back negative the first time.

BTW, nice to see you again Smile

We all felt like that when we were first diagnosed...part happy and relieved that we weren't crazy, we weren't hypochondriacs, what we felt actually had a name. Then the reality of the "chronic pain" sets in and we tend to get depressed...who wouldn't be, knowing you'll have pain for the rest of your life?

Mine gets me in the shoulders and neck all the time, sometimes in my hips and always in my feet. When I'm flaring really badly, I get these hot goosebumps on my forearms and my legs...they sting and burn at the same time. Horrible feeling.

I'm flaring again after a remission of a few months, but I've definitely been in worse pain. The dizziness is annoying as is the amplified hearing and overly sensitive nose. It's pouring down rain today and very grey but I still needed my sunglasses to drive. All fibro symptoms Smile

I hope you feel better today than you did yesterday.

Hi fightnfibro....I, too, have pain in my feet. It's terribly bad in first thing in the am, after I've been sitting too long, or when I've been on my feet for too long. So stiff..for me, it's like I don't have ankles...making it very tight and stiff. And, of course, there is pain. Once, I'm up and walking around they tend to do better. I use these magnetic discs I place on the outside of my ankles (under my socks) and they are fabulous. I don't even feel pain...stiff, but no pain. Good luck to you. This is a wonderful place to get info, rant, or just listen. It's done wonders for me. Welcome. Smile
