Angelblosson,

It takes a long time to learn to live with Fibro as it does take so much away from you. Hopefully with the weather getting a little warmer, you will be able to do a little more. I hope so. Meantime, just take things one day at a time and stay strong. I can no longer do the things I used to do either. It is a whole new way of life. Just do what you can and if you find you are having a so called good day, then you can do more. Hang in there and keep your chin up.

Angel blossom,

I was going through that last night. My hands hurt so bad that I couldn't clean up after dinner and wipe out pans....it ticked me off and my husband had to do it....I couldn't even hardly hold my fork to feed myself last night...or brush my teeth.....but I did it myself...I got tired of looking at the weeds in the garden and I picked them and then I paid for it....I am only 42...so I know exactly what you are going through. It is a little better today. So like Thomasann said keep your chin up and we will get through it!!

I’ve struggled with not being able to do the things I loved doing. I once practiced karate and was pretty good at it, having practiced 3 times a week for 4 years. When I was 16 years old I started getting cold sweats and strange pains. I forgot about it because I started working and couldn’t fit karate into my schedule any longer. Then I moved away for college and found two new loves, racquetball and kayaking, though I rarely got to do either. I figured it was just exhaustion, eating fast food, keeping bad hours, and being homesick that caused me to hurt so much after I got a chance to have some fun. I figured getting in shape and getting out of my funk would fix it all. I wasn’t diagnosed till I was 20. For the first five years after diagnosis I fought it. I just went ahead and did what I wanted, pretending I wasn’t sick. Needless to say I barely made it out of college and flunked out of graduate school. It wasn’t till I came home and accepted my limitations that things got better. Now with the support of my family, a handful of pills, and physical therapy I can live a fairly normal life. I’ll never get to go for a hike, kayak, or any of that other stuff I once did, but I do have a decent social life and can keep a full-time job. I’m even graduating with my Masters tomorrow (YEPPY!!!).

From what I’ve read, usually once you start accepting & living within your physical limitations and once you’ve found the right therapy (get yourself an understanding, knowledgeable, and most especially believing PCP) you start getting better and can expand those limitations some. You just have to figure out what you can do and accept what you can’t. People with diabetes have to accept that they can’t eat lots of foods without bad reactions, when they push it all they end up doing is putting themselves into the hospital. It’s the same for us Fibros, if you push you’ll just end up pushing yourself into a bed or the hospital. If it helps, scream, rail, cry gallons of tears at how unfair it all is, but accept that life has changed and you have to change with it. Otherwise it will never get better.

Way to go Brandy. That is great.

angelblossom1963, I know it is not fair. I feel the same way. I am 37 and I cant do half of the things I did before. We all learn with time. I understand that it is hard to adjust to all that fibro take away from us. It does not help to fight it.

We are all here to help eachother. Come here and vent when you need to. That is what we are here for. To share in the good and bad we all go threw.
