well this will be my second round with this place.

I have the strongest feeling they will put me onj Methadone and I really don't want to be put on that crap! I have read and read all about it and I'm absolutely not comfortable with taking it!

It causes the worste withdraw from what I am reading and it will make other doctors look at you like your a drug addict in recovery!

Can I refuse this medicine?

She of course will want to know why I know so much about something I have never taken before.

Should I tell her that I have been reading about pain meds and what is most helpful with Fibromyalgia and Arthritis.

I wish I could tell her I know what works for me but a friend of mine advised me not to ask for specifics as that would be like a red flag for drug seeking to them.

The thing is what I know helps is the same thing I keep reading is good for both the Fibro pain and Arthritis pain!

I just hope and pray they don't put me on Methadone!

One person I know said that they give Meth addicts Methadone, but I told her thats not true.

It's just everyone you as about Methadone associate it with drug addiction.

Please pray that they give something I know that works and that it's not Methadone.

Of course you can refuse I did...mine wanted to put me on the patch and I said no...all I needed is to have mine reduced because it was giving me migraines...I am on Oxycontin 10mg every 12 hours and percocet as needed along with the other meds I am on...this is working fairly well for me.

I wish you all the luck in the world...but you need to tell them what you want and ask thier opion and then make your mind up on what you want. that's what I did the last time I saw my Dr.

Hugs,
Barb

I know the methadone is doing nothing for me but I do have a long lost friend that I recently connected with and she is a recovering opiate addict she tells me. Well here she takes 120mg at a time so she doesnt go into withdrawls. I only take 2.5mg for pain. I was scared of the withdrawl factor but now Im not because I dont think the dose I am on can get any lower.

When I go in next wednesday I am going to ask for something else. But I am keeping a pain juornal and I am going to explain myself everytime I ask for stuff or if I change doctors. I am tired of being in pain but I cant afford to go to the doctor every two weeks eather if the meds arent working but they wont adjust them over the phone.

Thanks, you all are helping me build up my back bone for tomarrow!

I'll be putting my foot down and if they can't respect my wishes then my doctor will understand! She knows how I am about taking meds!

Well I'm back.......

When I went in they asked if I had done all of the things they asked me to do and I told them that yes I have. and they checked and got it confirmed.

It was the nurse practioner I met with this time and she told me she would give me a 15 day supply of Ultram and that she was going to prescribe me some Robaxin 500mg to take it at bed time the first few nights because it will make me sleepy. Then she told me to cut up the patches.

I told her as nicley as I could how I have been suffering for a long time and she said forget the Ultram. I was OH NO, what did I do. Then she said that instead of the Ultram that she was going to put me on Hydrocodone 10mg.

She said that after I have my knee surgery I wont need them anymore because then the pain will be gone. Ummm. I guess I should have told her that I will also be having surgery on my other knee about six months later. Also I already asked the surgion if this would take care of the arthritis and he said no that I will always have it.Umm, so after I get my knee caps recentered it should take away the arthritis. OK! Yeah sure.

Well for now I know I have a pain medicine that works and I am releived finally to know that I have something to help combat this terrible pain.

They drug tested me again, but I don't mind. I just go in there making sure that I have to pee lol.

I was so scared they were going to put me on Methadone and they didn't thank God!

So for now my pain should be easier to deal with and I know this medicine has never made me sick in the past, so I'm much more relaxed taking this.

I go tomorrow, Hopefully I have as good of luck. Right now even on the phone I am being treated like a two year old with a drug habit! I feel like I should have to do something wrong before I get treated badly. I have been treated badly since I first walked through thier doors and with NO compassion. I am happy for you though!

I would talk to my GP about the way you are being treated! I would definantly look for a new pain clinic if they don't help you tomarrow.

I'm praying for you!

Let me know how it goes.
