Hi April,

Who cares? Put on that suit. Life is too short. Swimming was always the best for me. As long as the water was warm. I swam several times a day when I lived in central FL. Now that I'm in Jacksonville, the pool is only open from Memorial Day-Labor Day and I miss it. I nearly drowned myself one year at my friend's upstate NY farm. The water was cold, as expected, the muscles refused to work, not expected. I also did the Curves thing for a while. It is pretty low impact and comprehensive. I quit that after a year beacause it started to really bother my knee and I was only able to go a few times a month. Other than that, it was a good experience and cheap.

My mom had to stop going to Curves also, it bothered her knees and shoulders. It helped some but I'm so used to workingout hard its hard to slow down now that I've had these problems. Guess I can go back to yoga. If you go to a water aerobic center the people wont be looking at you, so go ahead girl and get in there. Thers a place here where I live where I've thought about going to to check it out.

Yeah, i understand what you mean about being used to workingout hard and then having to slow down! Before the military I was into Kickboxing and karate and then the military is hard work. Now it's like I have to start from rock bottom and it's so hard!! I go to the park with my son, and i'm sore for a week! I feel so isolated because my husband expects me to be the way I was...

I would, but I have some serious stretch marks from all the swelling and fast weight gain from my pregnancy too and so i'm not a pretty fat lady! Plus, I don't have anyone to go with me. I'd probably go if I had someone to go and support me, but my mom (who also has fibro) is just as 'anti swimsuit' as I am. Even though she looks good one.

Since everyone says swimming is the best...I'll see if I can't get her to squeeze in a suit with me and hit the pool! Everyone has to start somewhere right?!

How about a t shirt and a pair of shorts. Just get out there and do it and the heck with what anybody thinks. you know that you're beautiful and so do we.

I'm a fatty too and I wear a halter swimsuit top bottoms and a pair of shorts and I feel better. That might help you and maybe your mother like PatC said. I gotta have someone with me myself and its motivating my mom to do something with me thats the problem.

I've come to accept that I'm fat and don't care what anyone else thinks. I am who I am and if people can only see the physical me and don't want to get to know the real me than I don't want to know them either. Take pride in who you are. Do what you need to, to make yourself feel better. Besides how many of the people you see when your out in your swim suit are people you are going to see again.

Guess I still care at the age of 24. Sometimes I care and sometimes I dont. Just depends how I feel that day. But if it makes me feel better I guess I can get over being fat.
