MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

LOL...... You are right about that...

This is the truth......

I had a stroke last DEC.... they had to lift me out of my truck passenger seat and put me in a wheelchair.......

Went into the ER and the intake person said...please wait over to the side..... she was going on her BREAK....NO kidding.....

Judy said WHAT the hell..... and yelled for some help... well another person came out and wanted all the usual id and insurance stuff.... Now mind you I am sitting there not able to move from the neck down... my head is hanging down I can not move it or talk and my arms are limp in my lap..... and she wants to see my drivers license....it in my back pocket...... well... after Judy did a lot of yelling to get help..... they finally got me in to see the tri. Nurse.... who then said what can we do for you today..... Judy by this point was just coming unglued...... it took her over 20 min just to do my vitals.... it was unreal.... finally the got me back to the ER, and they did about 6 test. Admitted me... put me in a room... and said here is some juice and crackers.... and left..... aaaa I could not move from my neck down.... how was I to eat them....

Anyway...my stroke was brought on by my RSD....so the doctors say... no real damage done.....scared the heck out of me..... I am doing fine...not permanent damage done......Thank God..... and I do everyday....

OH my God you would not have believed what happened after that, but that was just the beginning of my stay...it just got worse from there on.....

I will do all I can to never go back into a hospital.... I hve told all my friends and family... if you go in the hospital.... do not expect me to come and visit...... I will call to see how you are doing... and that is it..... lol.....

The hospital is not a place to be even if you are sick.....lol

Malaluke..... it has been great talking to you...... you have a great sense of humor.....

Craig

Picture is of my GRAND DAUGHTER... when she came down over spring break...........Gosh I miss her.....

I hear you guys . My husband had to be hospitalized because of a pancreatitis attack brought on by some medication. He doesnt drink and they said his gallbladder was just fine but the ummmmmmm should we call her a doctor decided they were going to do surgery and remove the gallbladder anyway you want to see someone get pissed off when they found out they werent my husband signed out ama. I told him that it was ok that way lol the doc told him patients werent supposed to know they could do that cause they could hurt themselves. Gee I wonder what cutting into a human body that doesnt need the surgery would do?????? God Bless You All

Iknow just what you guys are talking about. My then 16 year old, special needs daughter fainted at school and the school called an ambulance instead of me,so when I got there she as already in an exam room. It took 15 minutes just to find out where she was,THEY LOST HER!! No,lie the nurse thought she was in the room and the doctor had sent her to x-ray and not said anyhting to the nurse. You can bet I had a few choice words to say to him and the nurse.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Wow! all the ER horror stories. I must live in the place where they sent all the nice Doctors and Nurses. When I had my TIA (mini stroke) in 2002, I was in the exam room and whisked off to get a CAT Scan of the brain within 3 minutes. (The old Hospital) In 2004 when I had my heart attack I went to the ER at our newly built hospital and within seconds, I was hooked up to everything you could imagine and my blood work was already being processed. When I stabbed my hand this January, I was in the Exam room within 10 minutes and being stitched up. (the newest hospital) I've been to a total of 3 hospitals in this area, all in the same town, it's become their policy that the Patient is first. The insurance stuff came last. It did help that when I went into the hospital I had a list of all my drugs I take, all my illnesses, a copy of the card I have to carry for my stent, all my drug allergies, and the names of my PCP and my Cardiologist to give to them. It cut out alot of time for them when asking for medical history and it's more accurate than some nurse who's trying to write and listen at the same time getting something wrong.

I keep my list on my computer and I update it regularly. I also keep a list in my purse and in the car in the event of an accident or emergency. I also have a medical alert bracelet which I put on the back all my illnesses with a note to see my purse for allergies. Only bad thing about the bracelet is that it's metal and I'm allergic to metal so I keep it attached to the outside of my purse.

Jan that is a great idea I really need to do that the only thing is I can't remember all the dates of my surgeries I have had like 12-14 and can remember most of the years and some of the months but not exact I guess I could go and get copies of my records but have had surgeries at 3 different hospitals and one is 2 hours away and I hate telling them all of my meds because they always ask 20 questions about why and what for and act like I am a drugie or something I even had one guy that was doing a nerve conduction test refer to my purse as a pharmacy I was so embrassed and pissed. I have also gotten severe staff after a c-section and had to be cut back open (in a dr's office with no anest.) so I am always scared to death after surgery.

I don't have the exact dates cause I can't remember them all but the month and the year will do. I just added that one on to the list. What I used to do is look at the scars and tell them approximately when I had the surgery. The Dr who did my EMG was a foreigner and actually didn't believe one of the results so he stuck that pin in til it bled. I cried and he called me a baby. I then called him a pompus ass and left. Turns out the nerve he didn't think was done properly was the Ulna nerve which I damaged about 20 years ago. He could have asked. I had such a bruise there and I showed it to my PCP and told her that I will not go back to that asshole every again.

Janilee great idea. It is important to have all that information handy. I have my PCP's buisness card in my wallet on the back I have listed all my meds and allergies ( my list of surgeries is too long) I had a bad allergic reaction to a medication once and could not speak by the time the ambulance got to the house. All I had to do was hand them the card and they had a good start on what they needed. people will say to me " I know my medications I don't need to do that" but what if... you can't talk at the time like me or you ar unconcious, or just the stress of an emergency situation your mind doesn't always work well. Not to mention Fibro fog for all of us. LOL
