Sara, First of all, welcome to the group! We are here for you, no matter what you need...to ask ?'s, vent, cry, be silly...we'll be here.

Second, there are several posts about Lyrica. If you go to the med section and type Lyrica at the top of the page for a search, there will be a lot that comes up. Also, a good website that a nurse friend gave me is www.epocrates.com - it is a reputable source.

I personally tried Lyrica and did not like it. Even though my dose was very low (50mg twice daily), the side effects were horrible. It did help some w/ my pain, but the side effects were not worth it. We all react differently to meds, so the best of luck to you! Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Sara, Welcome to the group.

I've been on Lyrica about a year and a half. It's the only thing that really helps my nerve pain from tarsal tunnel and RSD. I would not be able to walk without it. I think it is mostly for nerve pain, not so much for muscle or joint pain.

It does have its share of side effects. I've experienced weight gain, extreme sleepiness, speech problems, memory problems and dry mouth. However, the positive outweighs the negative for me. You would have to determine if the positive outweighs the negative for you. For the sleepiness I just take a nap each day. The dry mouth, I just have to drink a lot of water, which is good for me anyway.

Good Luck!

Bailey

Thank you all for your help. I think I will leave it up to my doctor. He knows me best. I feel more prepared when I see him next.
