I, along with the help of an attorney, filed for a hearing with an ALJ in October.

How long did it take you to get a hearing with your ALJ from the time you filed your last appeal?

Also, what state are you from?

I'm getting SO anxious. Can't work. I'm feeling guilty! We had to file bankruptcy in 2006 because of all my medical expenses. We also lost our house. Now, my hubby's working two jobs and 60+ hours (laborous jobs). Not to mention the numerous hours that he spends caring for me. Our bank account is continuously drained and we've borrowed SO much money from my father and my hubby's parents. We're gonna have to ask for more again today. More guilt on me again!

Oh! And we tried writing the congressman. We wrote every elected official we could think of. After two finally decided to look into it- we wrote a "Dire Need" letter. It was good, and very specific. But that didn't speed things up at all! It's SO frustrating!

Thanks for your help.

I'm so sorry you've lost so much It's sad that fibro takes more than just our health. It destroys marriages, ruins familys, bankrupts others, splits families up, and costs some of us our jobs. And yet, half the doctors still think it "in our head".

I'm so sorry Amy. That you are going through this right now. I hope your hearing goes well, and that you won't go "batty" between now and then.

You always are here to give everyone else support and sometimes we forget our group leaders need support too!!

And say "hi" to our friend if hear from her!

fibroforever,

I live in PA and my attorney filed for me in Sept of 2005, I had my hearing in Feb of 2007, I think that is about 17 months. I was originally told it would take 6 months to a year to get a hearing. When the year was up I called my attorney once a month.

Please try not to feel to guilty, I was the same way & my husband kept telling me it's not your fault you got sick.

With the help of family & our 0% credit cards we were able to make it through & pay back when I won.

I'm so sorry you had to lose your house, nobody should have to go through that when they are ill, hang in there & remember it's not your fault, don't feel guilty.

Joanne

My attorney filed me as a dire need case and I was into see the judge within a month and heard back from her that I won my case 7 days later. Having a disability attorney is why it moved so fast for me. I am still waiting for the money though. I am sorry for you loss and I am praying for you.

Barbara
