I WAS AT WORK TODAY WITH MY TENS UNIT AND HEAT PAD. AFTER I HAD ALREADY TAKEN 750MG OF VICODIN, RUBBING MY OWN SHOULDER THAT HAS BEEN HURTING FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS NOW. (I'M SURE THAT ISN'T A SUPRISE) JUST TO GIVE YOU GUYS A VISUAL. ANYWAY THIS OTHER GIRL WHO HAS FMS SAYS THAT SHE TAKES MOTRIN EVERYDAY TO GET THROUGH THE DAY THIS WAS MY FIRST CONVERSATION ABOUT FMS WITH HER ANYWAYYYYYY AFTER WERE EXCHANGING OUR HOPES AND DREAMS OF LIVING FMS. SHE KEEPS TALKING ABOUT MOTRIN (YES MOTRIN) WHICH ARE LIKE BABY ASPRIN TO ME! MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I THOUGHT THAT MOTRIN CAUSES ULCERS AND THAT YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSE TO TAKE THEM DAILY. I WORK IN THE MED FIELD AND I GOT ALL DIFFERNT KINDS OF OPINIONS WHEN I ASKED AROUND. SO DOES ANYBODY TAKE THEM EVERYDAY? AND HAS ANYONE TRIED OR HEARD ABOUT TAKING EVENING PRIMROSE?

I just had to respond to this post about Motrin and share this experience. My husband has been taking Motrin, Aleve...mostly the generic stuff under the name of Ibphrophen (sp?). He has had 'back aches & tension headaches' almost daily for the past 20 yrs. (*Wild younger yrs with dirt bikes and 4 whrs!!) Anyway, he took 600-800mgs in the morning and then again at night after dinner. He's great about going to a doctor thank goodness. Annnnyywayy, he had blood work done a few weeks ago and then went to the doctor last week for the results! Wow! The doctor told him to stop taking ALL NSAIDS..aka Motrin, Aleve, etc Immediately!!! Apparently taking these things for so long has done something to his kidneys. There is one count..P...something, I forget...that level should be '1'. His was a 1.9. Can't say if this is permanent damage or not, or if something else may be going on, but he will get blood work drawn again in a month and will see what his counts are then. The doc has put him on ULTRAM and he says its not really doing anything, so he takes 2 if its bad. When that doesn't work, he takes a LORTAB and wow....then its like "My back?...what Back! " Problem is, he can't take the stronger stuff and still do his job at work. Geez, what IT programs would he code up then....Oh No!!!

So with all my rattling on here, <sorry> the point of my note is this...Please be VERY careful taking any Ibphrophen for a long time ok? We have enough things eating up our insides....

Thats crazy!

When I first went to my doctor she wanted to put me on Ibuprophen(sp?) as my main pain medicine! I just can't beleive my doctor wanted to put me on that if it causes so many problems!

Luckily I had a big bottle already from when I fell. I fall allot and sometimes get hurt pretty bad, so I had them from one of my many falls back in 2006. The reason I fall is because my legs give out on me.

Well I had already tried taking them for my fibro pain without finding any releife. So as far as them working for fibro pain , hmmm, no not for me anyway.

Hey Cadburry....I just posted what happened with "my" husband and we are all different right? I have empathy for people that try to take the OTC meds and it eats at their stomachs and yet yield NO relief! They never bothered 'our' stomachs that way, and I was just "really" surprised when the doctor told my husband to get off the stuff immediately! I'm sure the good doctors wouldn't prescribe us something that is intentionally bad for us, unless we really need it and it works for us. Ha, I am on steroids every day for my Addisons, and that DOES do damage to my insides, but if I want to live, I have to take them. Oh well, such is life right? Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep.

I hope everything turns out ok for your husband.

I have heard that it's also not good to take thee meds all the time because of bleeding.

I really hate that we have to take so many meds, and I always wonder about these antidepresants and stuff they put peope with Finro on. I have read that some people dont feel right in their mind for a long time after taking some of these meds. It's just so hard to say no when your desperate for releife.
