Well, I finally saw the doctor that everyone made a big deal about. My appointment was at 1pm yesterday. I didn't get called back until 5:30pm. Left the office at 7pm and got home about 8pm. What a day.

I think it may have been worth it though. Everyone told me that it takes forever to get in to see her but it is worth it. She actually listened to me, was happy that I made a list of symptoms (instead of getting mad like another doctor I once had) and she actually gave me some pain meds!

She wrote 5 prescriptions including one for migraines. I have been trying for YEARS to get some migraine meds but they never let me have them for some reason. When I was ready to leave she hugged me and said I didn't need to suffer anymore. I almost cried.

She isn't sure at this point if the fibro is my primary problem or if it is secondary to something else. She has ordered a bunch of lab work. I don't know what half of it is or what it will cost. I'm almost afraid to know. But I am finally making some progress.

Just thought I'd share.

Kat5150,

I am so glad that you finally got in to see the doc and actually got some pain meds for the pain. I am also very happy that you found a doc that seems to really care and really wants to help you. My prayers and thoughts are with you that the meds she gave you will work for you so that you have fewer bad days and more good days.

{{Soft & Gentle Hugs}} to you and have an Excellent Weekend.

WOW! I'm so HAPPY for you!!!!

I wish we could all have such understanding doctors! Maybe this doctor wanted to break down and cry too when she heard everything you have been living with. I can't get anyone to write me out migraine meds either and have been trying for years.I think thats weird because I have never heard of someone abusing or getting addicted to migraine medicines. I wonder why some doctors are reluctant to write those out???

Well, your on the right path now!!!

Thank you everyone.

I mentioned to her that I had many times tried to get help for my migraines. The doctors always tell me all about the wonderful new meds available and then end up giving me anti-depressants instead! Even when I tell them that it doesn't work. I told her all of that and she said "That's f***ed up!" lol I nearly fell out of my chair. I don't talk like that but I found it funny to hear her say that.

Anyhow, I am anxious for Saturday to go to Walmart and fill them. It is too expensive here. I'm hoping for the $4 generics at Wally World. I sure hope they all help. I can't believe I am so excited to get prescriptions filled! lol

I thought I'd update. No $4 generics at Wally World. We looked them up and only one was on the $4 list--not worth the drive for one low price. So we went to three different pharmacies. lol

We got a printout at Publix of the cost of all my meds for name brand. I nearly had a stroke. it was over $1100. They also included their generic prices. So we got a similar list at two other pharmacies and then got each med at the pharmacy that had the lowest price for it.

I was ready to drop dead when we got home but we got four of the five (one has to be ordered) for almost $200. BIG difference. I have to say, that is one of the weirdest things I have done. lol But we have to save where we can. Does anyone else do that?

I used to work in a Target pharmacy and its not a bad idea to shop around if you dont have coverage or if you have deductables because every pharmacy charges different. How crappy is that??? Every one should HAVE to be the same price no matter what!
