MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I have been a member to this group for awhile and i have heard everyone talk about the swelling and the stiffness that i suffer from too, but i have heard no one talk about muscle spasms. I suffer from severe muscle spasms. Muscle relaxers aren't even an option for me because they do not prevent the knots that i get in my back. When the knots get tight enough my back starts to spaz. We i have what i call a spell it can be any where from light to extreme. the light ones my body, starting in my back does a sort of twitching and the extreme ones tend to look like i'm having a seizure. Sometimes i even black out and don't remember anything. My doctor put me on soma for these but it doesn't seem to help. I was just wondering if i was alone and if not maybe a few suggestions on what others are taking to help these painful episodes.

Hey Karen

I have them in my back occasionally where my back locks up and I cannot get up from a lying down position. I use flexeril as soma made me ill. Maybe your doctor needs to try you on something else if the soma doesn't help you.. I would call him. Take care and I hope you get some relief!

hey there bumkin......a you bet to mus.spasims.I have had the works at one time or another. You'd have to give

out a little more info. on the amount of Soma you try to balance out with.etc. Freind of mine wakes up & the

POOlice are standing over him because the EMS people & his family think he has ODed.

I've had my left leg go so nuts my heel was wedged in my butt creak & they had to shoot me up with horse

trankxes.embarrsing yes & funny now, but.My prob. with soma was for it to work on my jaw I had to take

so much...my spine was jello & collapesed on to my last disco....sighatic went bannas. With my leg I could feel

it commin on & ate 4 somas & prayed[smashed em up & drank tea.I'm 6'2" 200lbs.] So DO NOT DO THIS

but you get the IDEA.I never would tell someone what to take. I had 27 broken ribs @ the time & the spazis

caused beyound beleif pain.

I get the in my back, worse in my toes and the very worst and most painful are the ones in my groin. Dr put me on the Cymbalta for the spasms and it has helped. I don't have them as often and not as bad.

I listened to my Mom, (for once) who would have horrible leg cramps and she told me to take the vitamin MAGNESIUM. And what a wonderful vitamin it has been for me. My doctor totally agreed with me...that Magnesium is very important and should be taken daily! I take a 500mg tablet 2 times a day..Am & PM. It has not only taken away all my knotted muscles that cramp up, but when I do have cramps coming on in my legs, I take another one, and before I know it..the cramps are gone. Now with prescribed medicines, I take the muscle relaxant TIZINADINE and it not only can calm your frazzled nerves, but it also helps ALOT to relieve the charlie horses in our legs, but also all other muscles that may be tight! I do take Soma, but only at bedtime, and for me I don't really notice its effects, but then again I am on 12 other medicines! Hope you can use this advice. Magnesium is not an expensive supplement, and with its low price and great results...it is worth any price at times!

I get spasims in my back, legs & neck.

I need to get more of this stuff called CALM. I get it at the health food store. It has MAGNESIUM and a few other things. I found that it really helps a lot. My dh gets spasims in his hands. I was giving that to him once a day for about a week. That was 4 months ago. he is just now feeling like he needs to take it again for a few days.

It helps me and it helped him. He is the type to just deal with the pain.

if anyone wants to try it but cant find any, I will ask them if they take online orders and ship to people. So if you send me a PM and let me know, I will go down and get the information for you.

I constantly have muscle spasms in my shoulder blades and in my mid to lower back and more recently I am getting major leg cramps. I have been on many muscle relaxors, some have helped. Right now I am on none. But Going to the gym and sitting in the hot tub helps temporarily...like 30 min only. Massage is really helpful if you can stand the pain of it. I cant. I would rather turn to stone first.

I Hope you can find a muscle relaxor that helps. Honestly, I carry Icy hot in my pocket. Sometimes that HURTS too but sometimes it helps. More so with the le cramps while I am at work. Good luck.
