I had TMJ problems back when I was in high school, I could not open my nouth very wide, and my jaw would pop when I chewed. That was 26 years ago, I didn't think I still had tmj probs. Last year at this time I was having terrible jaw pain, it felt like a terrible toothache, I thought my wisdom teeth were making me hurt. It was unbearable! I took so much ibuprofen, but it only helped for a little while. I went to my dentist, he did x-rays, he said I had tmj. It's like the cushions in the joints just kindof slip out of place. Anyway, he fitted with a splint, like a plastic retainer, for my lower teeth. I had to wear it all the time for a few months, now I just wear it at night. It was like a miracle though! When I feel tension in my jaws I open my mouth wide and move my jaws back and forth, this helps a little to relax them.. I tend to have a lot of tension type headaches, sometimes they start at my temples and sometimes at the back of my head, where it is so tender to touch, sometimes I can't even lay my head on a pillow, because it is too much pressure! When I sit for to long, or look up or to the side for very long it triggers a headache. I have a hard time sitting still for church, I am very fidgitty! Hope you find some help! |

It seems like if isn't one thing..bam! it's another! What's great for you is you got help!! I'm so happy for you. I hope soon I'll know what I'm dealing with now!
