Imcclure, I was searching around about headaches not just for you but for me also! I suffer from 2 different types of HA's and it hasn't been easy. I wanted to know what more could be involved.

Try googling the 'AMERICAN ACADEMY OF CRANIOFACIAL PAIN'. You will find out a lot about TMJ or the the other imposter of TMJ which is TMD. Very interesting stuff!!

Tell me what you think, ok?

I had TMJ problems back when I was in high school, I could not open my nouth very wide, and my jaw would pop when I chewed. That was 26 years ago, I didn't think I still had tmj probs. Last year at this time I was having terrible jaw pain, it felt like a terrible toothache, I thought my wisdom teeth were making me hurt. It was unbearable! I took so much ibuprofen, but it only helped for a little while. I went to my dentist, he did x-rays, he said I had tmj. It's like the cushions in the joints just kindof slip out of place. Anyway, he fitted with a splint, like a plastic retainer, for my lower teeth. I had to wear it all the time for a few months, now I just wear it at night. It was like a miracle though! When I feel tension in my jaws I open my mouth wide and move my jaws back and forth, this helps a little to relax them.. I tend to have a lot of tension type headaches, sometimes they start at my temples and sometimes at the back of my head, where it is so tender to touch, sometimes I can't even lay my head on a pillow, because it is too much pressure! When I sit for to long, or look up or to the side for very long it triggers a headache. I have a hard time sitting still for church, I am very fidgitty! Hope you find some help!

Hello Cherry and welcome!

Thanks so much for your experience. I've dealt with headaches for years, different types. Now I need to finally get to the bottom of a couple of them What's so frustrating about fibro is you sometimes just don't know what your dealing with when it comes to the headaches!! It seems like if isn't one thing..bam! it's another! What's great for you is you got help!! I'm so happy for you. I hope soon I'll know what I'm dealing with now!

Thanks,

Spruce

very interesting info spruce! i am not sure if that is what i have or not. i would have to ask the doctor if the pain does not get better in a week. i did call my rhemetologist and they are writing me a script for physical therapy, so i'll see if that helps. I am also seeking a second opinion from another nuerologist, so I will see if they have anything to say about it.
