At my appt yesterday my Dr wanted to run some labs ect. She is wanting to start me on Lyrica--depending on how the blood works turns out. Any input on Lyrica would be helpful. Do you like it, not like it. What side effects did you experience? Are the side effects tolerable because of the benefits you have seen? Does it help all symptoms? For example sleep problems, pain, muscle soreness, or do you still require additional meds. Any info on the cost. I have insurance BCBS, but thought maybe the co-pay would be high. Just looking for any info that you guys might have. I appreciate all the help and support that I have received on the last few weeks being new here. Thanks so much!!!

Hi, I started Lyrica in Decemeber. I have had really good luck with it. My pain level has went down about 50% and I have cut the use of muscle relaxers by about 50% too. I am not sure but figure it would be even less if I did not have so many other things going on besides FMS. As far as the out of pocket, for me it has one of the highest I pay (I am not sure how my company figures that) $24. I have read on this site where some think it causes mood swings. I don't know if that is true or not. I tended to be moody with pain anyway, so I can not say if its the Lyrica or not. Other then that I have not had any side effects.

I took lyrica for 2 1/2 months, gained 30 lbs and swelled up so much I had to get my wedding ring cut off. I also couldn't manage to stay awake and actually fell asleep at the front desk of a temp. job. After all this, the Dr. just wanted to lower my dose. I refused to take it anymore. She said if the pain wasn't bad enough to keep taking the lyrica, then it couldn't be bad enough for anything else. It did however, help with some pain.

I took Lyrica for 3 months. I gained weight, slept all the time, itchy we just didn't get along. So we parted our ways. Oh yeah, the sweats were so bad, I think my rhumy didn't want to touch me. Atleast, I could say I tried.

I have been taking Lyrica now for almost a week - it helps a lot but I feel fuzzy-headed - I know that is one of the side effects but does it go away - do people accomodate to it so it doesn't affect a person as bad later as early on? Thanks

B

Hello

I am on Lyrica and have been since February. It works for the most part, but I experience the fuzzy head, and dizziness if I don't get enough sleep. Because I was not getting a deep sleep and would wake up during the night, my doctor put me on Cymbalta, which works great. My mind is at rest and I can sleep, finally. I take pain medication for my arthritis in my knees and back.

Lyrica was a nightmare for me. It made me so dizzy that I had to sleep sitting up. Some people swear by it though.
