I went to my doctor today and told her that the pain doctor did diagnose me with Fibromyalgia.

My doctor, the one that brought up this whole Fibro thing to me in the first place said I'm not sure it's Fibro myself.

Ok so now that I have a doctor confirming I have Fibro now she wants to say she is not sure I have this???

She is the one who left me to suffer for more than a year and now that I have a diagnosis she wants to take that from me. Well she can't denie the arthritis it's right there in her face in physical proof!

I have severe arthritis in my knees and they can't do a knee replacement because I'm to young so all I can do is manage the pain for the rest of my life. You can only have two knee replacements twice in your lifetime and they only last for a certain number of years. If I had it done now I would end up handicap by the time I was 50.

My doctor is still sending me to a ruehmatologist I guess for a second opinion on the Fibro. Well she said given the fact that I have arthritis in my knees she thinks I should be seeing one anyway. She did some blood work on me today. She tested me for three things, but one of them was for RA. I hope I don't have RA

I'm so confused. I have all the symptoms and tender points of Fibro, have been diagnosed with Fibro by the pain doctor, and I'm always tired (which has not been adressed in a long time).

I do feel that my NP is worried about me though. Before she didn't seem to care, but now she seems to really want to make sure I don't have something else wrong with me.

I'm just terribly confused

Has anyone else experienced this type of cunfusion???

Cadburry,

I think ALL doctors are confused when it comes to fibro because there are so many different symptoms. My doctor sent me to a rhumey for a definite diagnosis. Stay strong. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers.

Tami

Cadburry,

This is very normal....all Dr's are not experts on everything....so she is sending you to a specialist....Rhumies are suppost to know more about FM....he/she will do more test and then they will rule everything out to get your true DX....that is what my PCP and Rhumie said to me...which makes sense. Good luck...a second opinion is always good in everything I think....

Hugs,
Barb

I am sure your doctor is just wanting to rule out other diseases by sending you to a rheumatologist. I was diagnosed first with RA and then later the fibro. The fibro hurts me a lot worse than the RA. Also with RA there are drugs to help slow down the damage to the joints, also there is a lot of pain with lupus. All these have blood tests to prove you have them or you don't Fibro doesn't. So I am sure it is just a precaution on her part.

I read where you were allergic to the patch. I am so sorry but there are other meds out there. You just have to find what works best for you. I am thinking of you and hopeing they find something for you soon.

I agree with the others, about you going to the rheumy to rule out other diseases. I wonder if the doctor meant that she isn't sure that is all it was. I had my doctor say that to me before. That is why we kept searching. When my ANA test was positive he then said, "You have non specific mixed connective tissue disease and fibromyalgia." Which requires a lot more monitoring.

SO,breathe, go to the doctor and do the tests.

Then let us know what is going on. Gentle HUGS!

Thank you! I have been searching and getting stressed that I have something more serious wrong with me. How did you find out that you have non specific mixed connective tissue disease? Did they find it in a blood test?
