OK seriously this has to be somehow related.

backstory...

I went off my Savella a little over a week ago and since then the symptoms are slowly coming back. I am now on nothing, but as soon as medicaid (hopefully) approves the Savella I will go back on it.

Then last night in my half asleep stupor I went to plug in a night night for my son and touched the prongs like an idiot. I got zapped pretty darn good and naturally it was right to the right arm and my right side is worse than my left side. By the time I woke up I felt my arm symptoms (right shoulder is my worst pain area) starting (aside from the after effects of being electrocuted) and now at 5pm EVERYTHING hurts and my fatigue went to the next level. Its a flare up which I was expecting due to going off my meds... but this slammed me overnight right after being zapped pretty good.

So has anyone every gotten a good jolt of electricity (like being electrocuted, not controlled therapy) and suffered a severe relapse of major symptoms?

I do know that any sort of tramatic experience can throw many of us into a flare. Perhaps when the electrocution happened, it startled you, all your muscles tensed up, you had a rush of adrenaline, etc... and that was what started it for you... Regardless how it happened, you are in for a rough few days (or longer Sad), and just know we are here for you... Others will be along shortly with encouagement and maybe even some new suggestions for making it through the flare. In the meantime, if you're up to it, read through the site - do some searched, etc... and you'll see some coping methods to help you through this. Take it easy, take care, and try to relax. Hope you get a good night sleep tonight and also hopefully the flare isn't a super bad one! Best wishes...

One more thing: I will pray that you do get approved for Medicaid. Insurance is nothing to take for granted and this is a reminder for me to count my blessings... It must be hard going through without ANY meds, and you're in my thoughts and prayers. Keep your chin up sister Smile

Wow, Desert, what an experience ~~~

I m not sure if this could cause a major flare but I m betting it probably could. It was a sudden serious jolt to your system so why not ~~~

BTW, I, too, hope Medicaid approves your Savella soon ~~

Electricity is basically what drives our entire nervous system, so it really wouldn't surprise me to find out that electricity of that magnitude could cause you to flare. I'm sorry you're going through this and I will add my hopes that you get qualified for medicaid. I know I can't get it even for my girls, because we make too much money (Ok, we're basically minimum wage, and that's too much?? But that's a whole other gripe.) Take it easy on yourself.

I do have medicaid now, but only because my husband lost his job back in march (he has one now) and we applied for assistance then. Once we got on we were put on the TANF program with TANF related medicaid for 12 months... it sucks and its embarrassing but it enabled me to FINALLY get help. But Savella is not pre-approved and we have to go through their approval process. They turned me down for Lyrica which was fine since lyrica made me high as a kite. But Savella works, so hopefully they will approve based on that.

As for the jolt itself it was NOT a huge jolt. In fact after yelling and swearing a little I laughed about it. The jolt itself didn't hurt so much as shock (pun intended) me. Its the after effects that are messing with me.

DesertDragon, I've shocked myself more times than I care to remember (I HATE that feeling!) and now that you mention it, I can recall the exact sensation of the zap going up and into my shoulder and for days it felt like the bones in my arm and shoulder were on fire. Another time when I was in the Navy I carelessly rested one hand on a piece of electrical equipment while handling patch cords with the other and feeling the electricity shoot up my right arm THROUGH my chest, down my left arm and actually 'spark' on the equipment. My heart beat funny for days after that and I was too embarrassed at what I'd done to go to sick call. How stupid is that? It was a very long time ago but I do remember how bad it hurt for days and I had a lot of insomnia and fatigue that I just blamed on working shift work.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Laughing

Exactly... hummmmm.

I guess on the plus side I managed to live my life for 30 years before electrocuting myself. Many people have managed to do that before they even start grammar school!

<holds hand up> That would be me too! I had a toy iron when I was 4 years old. This would have been in 1961. This TOY actually plugged into the wall and I'm guessing REALLY heated up? What were they thinking??? Anyway, I remember plugging it in and getting zapped bad enough to leave a burn on my finger. I was scared of plugs and sockets well into my teens LOL....
