Why wear a ribbon?

"I werar the purple ribbon to show my support for all we fibros endure together--..." (iteach)

MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Yeah, I try and listen to my body and limit what I do and I always ask for help. At the hospital I work at there what we call HUC/Techs and I happen to be one. The HUC is like a ward clerk/secretary. We put in orders, put together charts, call in consults and anything else the coordinator might need. Its mainly a sit down job. I've been doing that more lately which is nice. However I am in nursing school and do want to become a nurse.

Ah so you are doing that, I just got the impression that you were working mostly as an aide. I'm sorry for reading that wrong =( Hmmmm, then you really need to get into a doc to help you with this and rule a few other things out. I have a primarily all sit down job too and sometimes I don't know which is worse for us - sitting all day (or for the better part of the day, I run to patients rooms and stuff like that, help the occasional resident to the bathroom, too) or never sitting down like the aides on the floor (sometimes, we know there are the lazy ones, LOL!) Nursing school? That's very good! Exactly another reason why you need to get into see a doc soon and get the tests started for other diseases or conditions...it would be great if they found that you had something that was "cureable" instead of what Fibromyalgia will do to you and is not "cureable", just manageable "sometimes". You need to get yourself to that manageable state before you graduate nursing school so you can put your best foot forward!

Awww cheer up there Pondering! The blueness you feel is not uncommon to how I would feel if I couldn't work! The doc that gave me a physical today for my new job asked me if I could "work on all those meds" and that Neurontnin won't do anything for me, so it's onto Lyrica when I get to see the Rheumy in the first part of November. He seemed like he was really positive about that drug and he seemed like he knew exactly how I felt for taking so much darn medication. I feel kind of bad for working on all this medication, but I'll just steer clear of direct patient care where I could get weak and hurt someone!

Yeah I would go nuts not being able to work and I'm young. 24 and dealing with this. Yeah I am anxious to know whats going on. I go for an MRI Monday to see if its neurological. I just dunno though. I've read about the neuro conditions and it just doesn't sound like me. Maybe MS or MG, but from what I've read from other posters, I think it is fibro. Which is scary. I dont wanna be debilitated at 24.

I've had this since I was 21 - 22, I'm 28 now, and trust me, you won't be debilitated if you don't let yourself be! Overtime, you will learn how to trust yourself in knowing your limits and also finding enjoyment in there. This has been my worst year by far since being diagnosed. Up until this year, I hadn't really sought continuous medical attention. You will go through a long process of elimination. The road is bumpy, but not impassible. The good thing is that you have started early to recognize that what you feel is more than just some aches and pains. Hopefully, they will find something that will only be short term for you, but if not, you just have to keep on pressing on to leave a relatively active life. I'm only really debilitated when I'm in a bad flare. Other than that, the pain starts to just become routine and expected, you will find great joy in pain free days which will help to boost your spirits.

Yeah I've notied that. I've always lived with pain because of my scoliosis so its something I'm used to. Just the muscle pain and not being able to move is troubling me. I'm glad I've found somewhere where I can kind of vent about whats going on and realize someone else is probably dealing with the same thing I am. Nice knowing I'm not alone. My mom has it but I dont think its as severe. Thinks like this really make you think about your mortality. In your 20's you dont think anything will affect you but then bam your hit with something like this. Guess we're not invensiable huh? Oh well I'm gonna go take a test online and maybe go to sleep. I lucked out today and got called off but I took my sleeping pill when I got home so I cant take it again. Again, thanks.

You're welcome. It's nice to know that we are around the same age. Sounds like you have experience with pain and you will be alright with this, maybe not alright, but you know what I mean. I'm pretty sure that my flare will pass when the weather calms down and gets cold all the time instead of up and down with the temp -- maybe you will fair as well too.

Yeah it is nice knowing that there are people in their 20's who suffer through this too. I understand what you mean, the pain I can handle its the muscle stuff thats going to be hard. Thats one thing I hate about Florida. Theres only two seasons summer and almost summer. Now its were its cool at night and hot during the day. Its still in the 80s here. Oh well. I hope to fall asleep sometime soon. I've been up since 930 last night!
